Bodies found piled in freezer at Convention Center --Mayor says Katrina may have claimed more than 10,000 lives 06 Sep 2005 Arkansas National Guardsman Mikel Brooks stepped through the food service entrance of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Monday, flipped on the light at the end of his machine gun, and started pointing out bodies. Brooks and several other Guardsmen said they had seen between 30 and 40 more bodies in the Convention Center's freezer. "It's not on, but at least you can shut the door," said fellow Guardsman Phillip Thompson.

What the hell is giong on here? I can't believe this is the country I grew up in. Has everyone gone mad? This is evil. This is immoral. Why have we let them terrorize us over and over and over again? Who the f*ck are these people? I understand Limpballs gets a ration of shit daily since the flood...he has quite a few unhappy campers calling in. I understand that moderate Repubs want these maniacal monsters the hell out of their party. So, how come OUR NG'S are behaving in this barbaric, inhumane manner?

E.L. Doctorow says it best.

The president you get is the country you get.

Peace.

1. Wrap your mind around this, then
This is from a NY Times article about the Oprah special today... this article appears in the "Arts" section of the NYTimes no less.

In Hurricane's Aftermath, Winfrey Calls for Apology

Dr. Mehmet Oz, a heart surgeon and a regular contributor to Ms. Winfrey's show, toured medical facilities at New Orleans International Airport and described the removal of critically ill patients to a makeshift morgue "just so they can pass away in peace."

2. As A Practical Matter, Ma'am
What do you expect to be done with recovered bodies?

There are a great many of them, and there seem to be shortages of transport, living people still needing to be brought out of dangerous circumstances, and provisons needed.

3. The army has a specific "morgue unit"...
and per a FEMA person, FEMA will not be collecting the bodies, this unit will be. So why can't this unit start flying these bodies out of the area. Surely they can get a military plane big enough to start taking the bodies away.

Especially when there are large numbers of them sitting in one area (convention center, that hospital shown on the news tonight that has 15 dead bodies in their chapel , etc..).

5. That Unit, Ma'am
Will probably begin collecting them from concentrations in temporary stotage like this. A transport plane can hardly land outside the convention center, if you wish to see them flown elsewhere. They would have to be helicoptered or trucked to an airport, and where the nearest one working is is beyond me. Corpses are inconvenient things to deal with, on every level imagineable.

4. As far as I can tell

and I'm going off of uncensored first reports coming directly out of the convention center.

The reason those bodies are there. And many are children.
Is directly the fault of whomever was responsible for emptying the inmates from the county jail into the resident population that already occupied the CC and SD. According the eyewitness accounts, the trouble started the 3rd day when it became apparent rescue was being PURPOSELY held off and the newly freed inmates joined with their former gangs. It was at this point the looted and sparse food and water was being sold like drugs by these now armed gangs. The gangs also out-muscled others when limited MRE's and bottled water was dropped from the overpass ONLY when camera's showed up . The MRE's were stopped immediately after cameras left. One former inmate reveled in his newfound freedom by raping then slitting the throats of no less than 4 children until he was caught red handed on Friday night. He was immediately dealt with and his body is probably in the freezer as well. The Police watched it all from a hotel across the street according to the witness.
The police joined the looting, stole cars from a used car lot when their cruisers ran out of fuel. The police's main job was to keep them from venturing into affluent areas, and to keep them pinned down.

Many elderly had broken ankles and other bones from jumping from second story elevations to evacuate. Many of the weaker ones expired. There were also shootings, fights , and suicides once they knew what the score was and how truly bleak their situation.

Whomever kept those people there ON PURPOSE for 5 days is responsible for those bodies in that freezer...plain and simple.

The NG did not put them there...the people did, in attempts to keep the sight of dead children from the minds of living chlidren...
