Patriot Act question.

I was going to apply for a credit card last night(0%) and the woman from India said that this transaction will be sent to the feds as part of the Patriot Act. Anyone know of this prvision and what exactly is the purpose? This was the first time someone has specificaly said that notification would be needed and I have one other card that I received months ago that did not say this.

1. Opening a bank account, the clerk said she had to check the FBI database

I have a mortgage with the same bank. Life has gotten wierd.

2. Ah, no I have not heard anyone say this has happened to them.

I haven't applied for one, but know someone who did about a month ago and she was not told anything of this nature......

Could it be due to companies that are allowing this info to come from or through India?


There was a scandal recently of stolen ID's, personal information or something of that nature due to this type of business (bankcards, credit cards) being handled in India.

Maybe we should find someoe who handles theirs in America and see what happens?
