Trent Lott got Deputy Assistant Army Secretary removed
for trying to stop rubber-stamping of casino applications in Mississippi.

<snippet>
In 1998, Michael L. Davis tried to stop the Army Corps of Engineers from rubber-stamping casino applications without studying the impact dredging would have on marshes that shelter wildlife, purify drinking water and help prevent flooding. This angered Lott, then Senate majority leader, who had recently flown to Las Vegas in a casino executive's jet and had raised $100,000 for Republicans at a casino-industry fundraiser.

Lott got the moratorium lifted, then he got the Army to launch an investigation of Davis. No wrongdoing was found, but Davis was removed from Gulf Coast permitting issues.

3. Probably a few thousand people without homes now or who lost loved ones
I'm sure they would care if they knew. I realize Freepers don't care but caring people do.

6. Well, just a thought. If Lott contributed to the ecological disaster
that caused removal of natural barriers to sea surge for the Mississippi coast that led to horrific damages from a hurricane so he could get massive donations from the gambling lobbies, I'd think that would be a tad bit germane right now.

The guy's job was to study the ramifications of development along the coastline and institute some control for protection, he was fired for doing that job and now we have some identifiable results of not listening to Mother Nature and allowing unrestricted growth. Lott didn't get a guy fired because he boink his sister - he went after him because he probably promised the casinos he would.

Just a guess.

9. I sympathize with your position
It makes me sick, just to think of how plagued with scandals republicans should be, but no one ever pays attention.

10. So, we should all roll over and go back to sleep and not even try?
Sorry, I may rival Don Quixote when it comes to tilting at windmills but at least I am going to try. We all can write letters, call radio talk shows, tell our family and friends, march in protest, make signs, stand on the public square and demand answers. It is our job to try and get them to care. When we stop trying then we are truly doomed.

The Bushinistas, neocons, and the Christian Taliban, all wish we would just shut up but I, for one, can't because I'm a patriot. Now where did I put my horse? I've got a windmill to attack.

7. So, let's lay it out
Deputy Assistant Army Secretary Micheal L. Davis tries to -

stop giving out permission for casino owners to dredge marshes that
. shelter wildlife
. purify water
. prevent flooding

then Lott stopped him by getting Davis's moratorium against the dredging lifted

And Davis was removed from issues having to do with permits.

Lott is in bed with the casino people.

Now Lott has met up with nature in another way.

Some Dems are doing the same thing as Lott.

We need to replace all of them. I am sick and angry about all the leaders.

It is very obvious what they think of us.

Of course, if you are a stockholder (or gambler, in this case) you can benefit from the leaders.
