So do Survivor and The Great Race and other "reality" shows of their ilk
seem especially stupid when compared to the real reality of Katrina?
Do they hold their audience?

2. Mark Burnett doesn't understand the concept of true "survivorship"
if he hasn't been routed from NO because of Katrina. Let's see his contestants trapped in their attics, slowly dying of dehydration and hunger at the Superdome, being separated from their parents and/or kids, wading through the most unimaginably contaminated water waist deep while stepping on hidden broken glass and being confronted with loaded rifles by the National Guard.

Anything else is show biz.

3. Have any of these shows actually made an impact on how
to survive a disaster? Has anyone said, 'what I learned by watching Survivor (or any other 'reality' show) helped me when I was stranded'?
