Stripes letter: "Get off your butt, Bush, and get the job done"
Katrina response too slow

I am really upset. The condition of New Orleans is horrific, and the response from the government is so slow it is wrong.

After 9/11 the government was fast and now it is a slow crawl. Have all our priorities gone wrong? It is a national disaster and President Bush is acting like it is no big deal. Sure, all the words are nice, but food and water are a lot more meaningful. Get off your butt, Bush, and get the job done.

And what happened to the rest of the world, we jumped through hoops for the tidal wave last year and so did the world, but where is the help for us? I suggest this: If you do feel like you have to help us, then don’t count us helping you, like the old saying, You Scratch my Back and I’ll Scratch Yours.

God bless all the victims and the survivors. You are all in my prayers.

1. That's all well and good Steven, but . . . the rest of the world HAS
OFFERED HELP. Bush has ignored them or denied them.

The help was offered by even those nations that Bush has been viciously critical of such as Cuba and Venezuela.

2. My mom was saying the same thing last night...
...where's the rest of the world?

I told her about our DART team being turned down, about the doctors from Cuba and sent her a list of articles on domestic aid being turned down by FEMA.

Has anyone been keeping track of which country is offering what and who's been turning them down?

3. Tell it to the GOP
The people elected them. Expecting to get SOMETHING. One of their biggest bitches is our MILITARY helping other countrys and where is the military?? Protecting OIL.

This is the REPUBLICAN IDEAL that they voted on. They just don't like the reality of it.

Nothing would could say would get through to them. It was way OVER THEIR HEAD. Much easier to talk about the importance of a Blue dress.
