OMG! Thomas Friedman rips * a new a-hole!!!!
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/07/opinion/07friedman.html?hp

"Well, if 9/11 is one bookend of the Bush administration, Katrina may be the other. If 9/11 put the wind at President Bush's back, Katrina's put the wind in his face. If the Bush-Cheney team seemed to be the right guys to deal with Osama, they seem exactly the wrong guys to deal with Katrina - and all the rot and misplaced priorities it's exposed here at home.

These are people so much better at inflicting pain than feeling it, so much better at taking things apart than putting them together, so much better at defending 'intelligent design' as a theology than practicing it as a policy."

4. His intelligent design comment betrays a total lack of understanding.
The entire premise of intelligent design is that it is based on valid science, and certainly should never be mentioned in the same sentence with theology, because that would imply creationism, and the jig would be up.

5. Are you being sarcastic? Because ID IS a theology, so Friedman has it
exactly right.

9. Yes, but he is saying that Bush defends it as a theology, which is wrong.
Bush would never do such a thing, because it would expose ID for the fraud that it is.

10. Wonderful, isn't it......
I usually have conflicting feelings for Friedman but sometimes...I LOVE HIM! Look at these two NYT companion pieces. If you like Friedman's you'll love these:

13. Someone had the perfect comment about this last night
And I wish I could recall which DU'er said it, so I could give credit.

Paraphrased as closely as I can remember:

Welcome back, Tom. Now go sit at the children's table.

Why the hell did it seem to clueless Tom that BushCo were the right guys to deal with Osama? They totally screwed up that, and everything else they have ever touched. Bush is an incompetent surrounded by incompetents.:mad::mad:
