Bargaining with the credit card cos...

I just paid off all my debt. I have two Mastercards with different banks and I just called both banks and told them the one of the cards was going to go. Whoever wanted my business had better do a pretty good pitch. I ended up with a 7.96% fixed rate with 3.9% on any balance transfers (I don't have any). I just want one card for emergencies when we travel, and we don't do a lot of that.

No particular point in posting this other than it felt good to be on the other side of that equation and to be the one in control of how my power as a consumer can be used.
