1. First of all, I do know the facts yet on this claim BUT....

I would think there would be nothing THEORETICALLY or FUNDAMENTALLY wrong with FEMA being part of the DHS.... as long as the were competent and skilled bureacrats in the chain of command.

This one doesn't even make sense. The problem isn't with DHS or even FEMA, but George W. Bush.

Their talking points are becoming increasingly inane and desparate. It may be a good sign, but unless you can keep a sense of humor (which is not at all easy these days), it can also be maddening.

3. The Repugs lie like dogs. They ran against Dems in 2002

because they voted against creation of the DHS. Remember Max Cleland?

Lying Limpballs is correct that the Democrats pushed for a department of Homeland Security, but it wasn't the one that Busholini created. The Democrats opposed that. This is typical fascist propaganda--there is a seed of truth in what they say, but it is entirely misleading and taken out of context. But, it works on the sheeple everytime.

4. To the disagreement of some on DU I say putting FEMA in DHS

wasn't a bad idea! disater relief to me is part of securing the nation and the idea that resources are shared amongst all member agencies of DHS is to me a good one.

HOWEVER IT DOESN'T WORK FOR SHIT WHEN YOU HAVE INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP!!
