Dems Assail White House on Katrina Effort - Pelosi comments on Yahoo!
Dems Assail White House on Katrina Effort
By JENNIFER LOVEN and DAVID ESPO, Associated Press Writers
41 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Congress' top two Democrats furiously criticized the administration's response to Hurricane Katrina on Wednesday, with Sen. Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record) demanding to know whether President Bush's Texas vacation impeded relief efforts and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) assailing the chief executive as "oblivious, in denial" about the difficulties.

snip...
At a news conference, Pelosi, D-Calif., said Bush's choice for head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency had "absolutely no credentials."

She related that she had urged Bush at the White House on Tuesday to fire Michael Brown.

"He said 'Why would I do that?'" Pelosi said.

"'I said because of all that went wrong, of all that didn't go right last week.' And he said 'What didn't go right?'"

"Oblivious, in denial, dangerous," she added.

12. But that's what he believes, because it's what he wanted.
What happened in NO is exactly what they wanted to have happen.

Bush, the neocons, the BFEE all wanted government to fail and that's exactly what happened.

17. I called my Rep's office as soon as I read this
I told a staffer about the story and the disgust on the other end was palpable. My Rep (Jan Schakowsky) will make some noise about this.

The SF chronicle reported this, but I'm pretty sure CNN won't. We have to make sure the enablers in the MSM don't bury this quote.

20. How easily Bush reveals himself
"What didn't go right?" came out so naturally when most other humans would have said "What went wrong- as you see it?" The words so naturally twist away from any approach to responsibility, guilt or wrong doing that it is MORE pathological than a mob boss, a Machiavellian liar or any type of politician.

It is worse than the patrician ignorance being very kindly trundled out, the "out of touch" meme, the sheltered uncomprehending aristo. he seems to have cut out basic human conscience from his entire vocabulary, the world redefined in the mind of a punk madman because of the obscene power and privilege conferred on him.

22. Bush is a sociopath!
Yes, he's "oblivious, in denial, dangerous", but that's because he has no conscience, no insight and no empathy.

Like I said, he's a sociopath. Seriously! He's mentally ill and should be in a controlled environment. Instead, he's making decisions as to which country will get nuked next.

To borrow a phrase from Rumsferatu, "Are we in trouble? You betcha!" :nuke:

24. Bush and his administration...
are clearly delusional ... "What didn't go right?" ... Hey, Shrub, almost nothing went right, you negligent criminal.

Warms my heart seeing Pelosi on the attack! And she's absolutely right about the Bush cabal: dangerous. That's exactly why accountability must be determined now, not later.

25. My question to Bush, is what reason did you wait until Friday
before NG. and that hugh ship weren't allowed in until they got they got the word from the prez.

Why did Fema turn away the three trailer truck loads of water,
Why the truck filled with diesel fuel - turned away by Fema.
Why Fema yened away the trailer truk filled with generators??

Bush to Pelosi asks; "why would I want to fire Directer Brown?!!
This make me think the President himself must be replaced for failing to protect the people, which is what he swore to do as president.

29. That is exactly why we address BOTH ..what did happen and what should
happen next.

"Bush to Pelosi asks; "why would I want to fire Directer Brown?!!
This make me think the President himself must be replaced for failing to protect the people, which is what he swore to do as president."

He should have HIS security clearance revoked to begin with while being investigated, exactly because he is endangering the lives of American people.

BTW.. my 1,000th post (which this is) was going to be something I've been working on, but I haven't had the time lately and I can not resist posting...especially when I read this.

The man is terrorizing this country. I don't think I'm alone sitting with massive stress as to what the thing he tries to "fix" is. Bush's policies are a catastrophy... or, how's that go??? oh yes.. a "catastrophic success".

33. Remember to keep to the story !!
Actually, the heads of the (LA) Red Cross and Salvation army came out today saying the LA Dept of Homeland Security stopped them from delivering food, water and medical supplies to New Orleans immediately following the disaster. Yes, they are FEMAs first line of disaster relief and it was Blanco who stood in the way, but we can still make hay out of this if we keep ignoring reality. Let's keep pushing the line that it is all Shrub's fault and by this time next year we'll have Congress back!!

32. Good to see this out in wide distribution. No one can possibly accept Bush
pretending to not know of anything that went wrong with the alleged relief/rescue efforts - actually quite the opposite - of the federal authorities. This needs to be hung around his neck for all to see:

She related that she had urged Bush at the White House on Tuesday to fire Michael Brown.

"He said 'Why would I do that?'" Pelosi said.

"'I said because of all that went wrong, of all that didn't go right last week.' And he said 'What didn't go right?'"

Yes, a big sign with letters so huge that even the self-blinded sheeple can read them.
