Mr. President, when will it be time to point fingers? I say now, while all of the evidence is right here in front of us. You messed up! Again!

President Bush insists that now is not the time for finger-pointing and blame, but it certainly is. And most of the finger-pointing and blame for the slow-motion federal response to Hurricane Katrina is being directed at Michael Brown, the hapless head of FEMA whose only apparent qualification for the job was a wise choice of college roommates.

There's a backlash already in effect from a lot of people who think it's a bit unseemly to prioritize fixing blame over helping victims. Rage is like loud heavy metal...hear too much of it, and it just becomes annoying background noise.

There's a true cornucopia of error and blame waiting to be assigned after the crisis has past. It ain't going anywhere.
