Jackson who used the Indians to win his little war then sent them off in mid-Winter to die. That's sounding a little current with all the reductions in veterans' benefits.

47. Good point. As have I
The last man nearly ruined this place,
He didn't know what to do with it.
If you think the country's bad off now
Just wait 'til I get through with it.

The country's taxes must be fixed,
and I know what to do with it,
If you you think you're paying too much now
Just wait 'til I get through with it.

I will not stand for anything that's crooked or unfair.
I'm simply on the up-and-up, so everyone take care.
If anyone's caught taking graft, AND I DON'T GET MY SHARE,
We stand him up against the wall, and POP: goes the weasel!

26. To me, he's an amalgam of several...
... previous presidents. Physically and in speech patterns and in his attitudes about business, he greatly resembles Calvin Coolidge. In his dogged adherence to bad policy for strictly ideological reasons and in his desires to pander to the wealthy, he is much like Herbert Hoover. In his attitudes toward his political enemies, his soulmate is Richard Nixon. In his belief that the presidency is largely a matter of fundraising, public appearances and the occasional speech, that the media is to be carefully controlled, with the details of governance to be left to others, and with regard to his problematic but possible diminished mental faculties, he's very much another Ronald Reagan.

He's clearly a combination of some of the worst presidents in history. I would have mentioned his resemblance to McKinley, but I actually think he's been even more aggressive in foreign policy than that man, and has encouraged in his administration and his party even more corruption than did McKinley.

36. Calvin Coolidge
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 05:31 PM by craigolemiss
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_Coolidge

Coolidge's press conferences, however, reflected his reticent personality with a vengeance. Louis Lyons, a Washington newsman in the 1920s and later an official of Harvard's Nieman Foundation for Journalism, recalled that Coolidge required all questions to be submitted in advance, written on slips of paper. When reporters were admitted to his office, he would go through the slips, discarding any he had no desire to address. Occasionally, he would flip through the entire stack and announce, "I have no questions today." The reporters were not allowed to quote him directly, or even to attribute his remarks to "a White House spokesman."

40. You can't really compare Bush to any leader
You can't compare him to either Hitler or Mussolini; both of those guys were big on infrastructure, which Bush is not.

You can't compare him to Mao--Mao had a Long March, but Bush won't let anyone outside his tight little circle near him.

Comparisons to Nixon are right out too...take away Nixon's complete lack of respect for the law, and he comes out looking downright progressive.

And I refuse to compare him to Reagan, for Reagan was so addled by Alzheimer's he knew not what he did; Bush doesn't have that excuse. The little fucker knows exactly what he's doing. And he doesn't give a shit.

I can't even compare him to Caligula, for Caligula had a horse.

Bush is in a class by himself.

48. Hussein
Just lately with the realization that they have gutted the support systems in this country and wanted to do that, seeing his callousness where he couldn't hide, I have thought he is as unfeeling and cruelly narcisstic as Saddam Hussein. Though he doesn't use guns to kill people, he uses rich trampling on the poor to kill people.
