watch BBC World News for the whole story
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 05:11 PM by ginnyinWI
I've been watching Katrina news on network and cable channels, but BBC has been the only one to actually show the worst of it--the dead bodies on the streets, floating in the water, or lying inside homes. I don't know if the decision was made that Americans do not want to see this, or what--but there is a definite difference with the BBC. Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up on this--that there is a part that most networks are not showing you.

On Edit: I have to alter my post a bit: Anderson Cooper on CNN has also been showing the dead. Kudos to Cooper: he's one of the better journalists in my book.

2. Agreed. U.S. Network News and Cable News is censoring the coverage
for us. No, or minimal, dead bodies. Shrubco loves it.

3. international...
news and independents always have better news coverage--I'll check the Spanish language networks also--they always show gruesome, graphic images.

5. True. Quite apart from the fact that just about any overseas news
outlet whips the pants off even the best US television news broadcasts, at any time, there's long been a tendency for other countries' newspapers and televison to show the kind of graphic images that are not usually seen in US news media product. I've never been particularly excited about that, when living in or visiting those countries, but it is, at least, some kind of truth.

8. Good show on Oprah
for the last two days. I'm not a fan of hers but she is sure getting the truth out.
