Okay, I just heard about Barb Bush's comments
Did she really say that? And how big is this down there?

1. She did
And per usual, there's mostly only outrage on our side of the fence. Otherwise, *crickets*

6. Nope
She always gets a pass. America still thinks she's charming.

11. I've seen it plenty of places
Reported drily, just the facts. And more often than not, there's a bit of "perhaps she meant this" and "perhaps she meant that" analysis, when anyone who knows the old bat knows she's prone to such regally cruel statements. The coverage is no different than the small flap her "beautiful mind" caused. It didn't dent her standing as America's Grandma then, it won't now. It's not a big deal to most.

21. The White House was never forced to respond to her
'beautiful mind', they had to respond to this ergo it is certainly bigger in the media's and the public's eye.

3. Jon Steward played it last night.
It has hit a few of the media outlets (CNN played it the first day she said it), but I think most people think she's an out-of-touch ass anyway.

I heard the words right out of her evil little mouth on Al Franken last night.

19. When her kids were young she'd pack their lunches
when they went to a large city to shop -- so that they wouldn't have to eat with the blacks at a cafe or wherever lunch was served in the 50s & 60s.

According to the book "Fortunate Son"

My copy of the book is loaned out -- so I can't find the page for reference.

Yes the half-human maggot is a bigot.

9. The oblivious evidently choose to stay that way
She could have said it standing on her head, and they would have said, gee, she sure is limber for her age. I despise political apathy anymore. The price is too high.

12. About refugees in the astrodome
"Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

13. They're not talking about it much here in Houston.
I think a lot of people don't know about it. But she would get a pass because she is a Bush. And because everyone knows she is probably prejudiced.

14. Hold on to your hat
You missed the vile sentence before that:

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is that they all want to stay in Texas."

16. LOL
Way to go Barbara! I know that sometimes when I'm a bit short on money, I don't eat, drink water, or use a flushing toilet for a few days. Modern living conditions are for snobs.

18. 2 reasons. First, she's probably too smart to say something that dumb.
And most importantly, she knows that it's not "her place" to speak.

20. She's not new at this...
" Governor Bush talks like his father, who was equally prone to malapropisms and non sequiturs, but he thinks like his mother, whom Nixon admired because, he reportedly said, "she knows how to hate." http://www.texasobserver.org/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=711
