"Like DavidNYC in his last post and like many of you, I'm more than disappointed with media complicity in helping to cover for the gross negligence of Home Land Security, Bush, and FEMA. The MSM started out strong but they're being infected a bit with Rovism. New and damaging information comes out everyday about the WH, DHS, and FEMA. As each new morsel comes to light I see a lot of folks saying 'somebody tell the media!' 'Get this out!'

That's an excellent suggestion and I heartily concur. But we can do more with almost no effort at all and hit the media where it hurts and where they'll notice. Because folks, we ARE the media and more importantly we HAVE the power.

Update: I suggest those of you with juice on other blogs pass this around. And I need e-mail addies for specific programs. When the time is right we'll launch a pilot program and see what happens; a coordinated strike. If it doesn't work, nothing lost. If it does work, my God the consequences could change the country.

DKos logs almost a million hits a day now. We're the largest blog on planet earth. No doubt, the media is paying attention to US and the reality based community in general. We are the growth, and thus we are the market share of desire to court. I just sent this e-mail to Hardball because I was disgusted when Chris Matthew's allowed Bernard Kerik to lie on his program without presenting a rebuttal or the simple facts on record:


This is offered as a fair heads up so that you can correct yourselves. Most of the DKos readers like Hardball, we're a huge component of your viewership. But if you keep having liars like Kerik or anyone else on trying to shift the blame for Homeland Security to the goddamn local mayor, without rebuttal or the actual facts available and promptly presented, I and several others will feature your top sponsors by name and e-mail addresses on the biggest blog on earth and recommend to my fellow million plus readers and members that they boycott your program and sponsors for one week, and send your sponsors personal e-mails explaining why they're doing it.

This isn't politic guys, this is fucking survival. We can't afford to let these clowns off the hook to screw up again. Am I getting through?


I don't want to imply here that Hardball is the only one carrying WH water; they're not by a long shot. In fact I wouldn't bother with them if I didn't think there was hope for that show and that network; it's just an example. What I'd like to propose is some organization to make threats like this stick. I'm willing to oversee and coordinate this project, but this reactions isn't something we want to use as a whiny threat; call it DarkSyde's Nuclear Option or the Dkos Option or whatever you wish."

3. They plan to hold to a real boycott

Listen, the political shows know that politics junkies are their key audiences. If DKos does indeed have the hardcore readership as advertised, the site can bring substantial pressure to bear on these programs. But people have to stop being lazy., stop making excuses, and actually hold to the boycott and send the sponsor an email, cc'd to Hardball, or whichever show. If 40,000 people do that, you'll see these shows change in a quick second. If 100,000 people do that, look out.

The only thing we can do is have a massive boycott to influence the media if we're going to change this country.
