My email to Harry Reid on Joe Lieberman's investigation
http://reid.senate.gov/email_form.cfm

Dear Senator Reid,

I am writing you to ask that you as leader of the Senate Democrats effectively boycott the official Senate investigation of Katrina.

I fully agree with the feeling that "now is not the time" to assign responsibility for the failures around the storm, but from Senator Lieberman's statement about the investigation he is leading, holding anyone accountable EVER.

I also beleive that Sen. Lieberman's credibility is compromised by the fact that he led the 2002 confirmation hearings for Mike Brown. This was a massive bipartisan failure and the Democrats need to own up to their own role, and Sen. Lieberman should take most of the blame.

It also appears possible that the reorganized domestic security bureacracy played a role in the Katrina disaster, and once again Joe Lieberman was the Democrats' leader on developing that new structure.

I believe that investigating Katrina is the job of Byron Dorgan and the Democratic Policy Committee, and Dorgan should lead a parallel investigation and the Senate Democrats should put their collective
support behind Dorgan, and should effectively disown Lieberman on this matter.

If the democrats expect to credibly hold Bush accountable for his repeated failures, we should try to stop repeatedly failing ourselves. Lieberman's investigation is destined to fail, in my
opinion, and to put any faith in it (or spend a single dime on it), is foolishness.

Thank you,
