As I sit watching the Blake/Agassi tennis match this evening ...... |
|
my mind wanders back to the days of Arthur Ashe. It's hard to believe he's been gone 12 years now.
What a class-act.
Hat's off to you Arthur. We miss you.

Although I do adore Agassi for all the good years and his philanthropy and I am liking Blake a lot too.
Still, Arthur Ashe was a class-act, that was for sure.

2. I know - this is an awful match. I want both of them to win. |

But, that's the bleeding-heart 'Liberal' side of me.
So be it!!

6. Me too but the good thing |

is we will be happy either way and actually, I think they might be too.
How about that Mary Pierce? I missed all the tennis today except for the end of Davenport's match but I did see that Mary won earlier. She looked great the other day.

I have been a little disappointed with the women's tennis, it seem in flux but beginning to come out of it but the men's game this year is killing me! Damn, there are some major players really coming up and it is so exciting! I think women's tennis will be better next year maybe or maybe it is just me, I am not real familiar with all the Russian women yet but it looks like I had better get that way and soon.

3. Remember when he beat Connors at - was it Wimbledon? |
|
My whole family was going crazy.
He was such a class act, and a great ambassador for the game. Truly, a great, classy man.
Hope this is a good match tonight. I'll have to go to bed, tho. Oh, there's Marc Cohn and Elizabeth Vargas. Good to see he's recovered.

4. Most definitely a class act... |

I'm with you, it doesn't seem possible that 12 years have elapsed. I say, bring back the Stan Smiths, The John Newcombes, and the Arthur Ashe calibre of athletes. NOt try to detract from many of the fione athletes we ahve today, but the otehr guys were my era.
