My response to my Freeper friend. Any suggestions?
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 10:19 PM by Quixote1818
>>>Bush is completely responsible for the Hurricane, the damage, the flooding and the destruction. They've been predicting this possibility for 100 years and the State and local governments have done nothing, as has the Federal government during, but let's turn this tragedy into politics.<<<<

No one has said anything like what you said in the first paragraph the anger is over FEMA's abysmal response. I am sure their is enough blame to go around on why the levies were not reinforced even though the local and state Gov. have been asking for Federal help for quite some time. The project would have cost several billion from what I understand. That several billion sounds pretty small now when you think that it could cost as much as 150 Billion to clean up the mess and get New Orleans back on it's feet. I hope we at least have learned not to cut corners on projects that if not handled could lead to the loss of whole cites. Sadly places like Alaska were getting millions for bridges to uninhabited islands as New Orleans was getting snubbed even though it was listed as number 3 on the list of most threatened cites because of it's levies and the hurricane threat.

>>>There's been 1 million people displaced, in a damage area larger than the country of Great Britain, but I see how Bush is the one who should have fixed it, prevented it or at least picked up his direct connection to the "All Mighty" and lightened the load.<<<<

Bush is mainly responsible for it taking a week to get food and help to people that were mostly in two places, the Super dome and the Convention center. I have never seen anything like it, not even in third world country's have they screwed up this badly. You have to admit FEMA's response was so bad it was almost criminal.

>>>>I can't tell you how sick I am of hearing people play the blame game less than 1 week since the storm. Yes, there is blame, but we've got 1 million reasons to put it on the back burner right now. The Democrats are fucking gutless and have no shame.<<<

Blame Game? I see you have the Right Wing talking points already. Blame Game, Blame Game, Blame Game. Where have I heard that before? They hide behind "The blame game" then turn around and blast the Governor and the Mayor at the same time. Have you heard Tom Delay, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity?

The Dem's have mostly been silent until yesterday even though the press, including even a couple of FOX news reporters and locals who were starving have blasted Bush for the past week. I think when you are starving, walking around dead body's, smelling rot and waiting day, after day, after day, after day for food and water you probably are entitled to complain a little bit. The Dem's Finally spoke up after Bush refused to take ANY responsibility again for the 50th time. It wouldn't surprise me if Bush had a sign on his desk that says "The Buck stops anywhere but here." After all, he is in charge and the Republicans do have all THREE branches of Government right now. You forgot to mention all the Republicans including Newt Gingrich who blasted Bush last week.

Come on it's obvious that Bush dropped the ball as usual. Just take the time and do some reading about what he did to FEMA. It's a fraction of what it was before 9/11. It's been diminished and filled with Bush's cronies with no experience in Disaster management. That's an outrage! Bush screwed up big time and many lost their lives who should not have.

We can agree to disagree and I am sure you have given money to the effort because that's the type of person you are. At this point that is really the only thing you and I should worry about. Giving a small fraction of our money to people who have lost everything.

1. He's the pResident and final accountabiity ends with him
That's just how it is. Any other excuse is unacceptable.

And, it's not a blame game, it's a shame game.

4. Friend could use dull razor, but bullet in beaner would be quicker-
Sorry, but I am in a really lousy, shitty, foul, contemptable mood after dealing with racist colleagues at work today. And little shit Rove trying once again to fan his foul gas our way. Time for me to hit the sack.

8. Sorry, that was a mean post. Here's what I've been doing:
I have not been engaging in political debate with people who can't at least back up what they have to say with a cogent thought. There are so many other ways to spend your time than arguing with Foxbots. I asked a colleague at work who was trying to bait me the other day with RW talking points that, at this point, if a gun was held to my head and I was forced to choose between debating politics with him or being drug through elephant dung, guess which option I'd go for?

7. Tell him he is a fine example of propaganda programming
The spin machine is advancing its deflecting strategy to the sheep to bleat. What we are is doing is evaluating the performance of our government that we have so richly endowed. Tell him he is a classic case of taking the propaganda hook, line, and sinker. Then ask him the 5 major media companies that the government has designed as their enablers and ask which ones he regards as liberal.

Anybody that says "liberal media" has met one litmus test for a fool.

You could ask him if he can walk and chew gum at the same time. You could also ask him if he is involved in relieving the misery from Katrina to the extent he cannot follow the blunderous failure of the government to respond to this disaster.

10. He probably is involved with the relief effort. He is actually a very good
person who is just stuck in an old way of thinking he got from his Dad.

14. I would still tell him he is a fine example of propaganda working
I mean you are really just being honest with him. They put it out into the echo chambers and boom, you have people accepting the propaganda.

But still, it is easily determinable that the federal government, and that means WarCriminal too, failed miserably. It does not have to go further than that. The real lesson is still in him filling his brain with the caterpulted propaganda.

11. I would suggest that it might be fun for awhile, taking on the Sisyphean
task of rolling a massive boulder made of the concentrated right wing "talking points" and general spewings of their bush-zombie "pundits" up the hill toward reason and real discourse...but eventually the weight of such a pile of ignorance and mule-headed party loyalty will make that boulder fall back down on you, and it will prolly resemble :banghead: before too long.

But good luck! You never know....

12. you can also add...
that FEMA was put in charge of EVERYTHING when Bush declared a state of emergency of 8/26... three days before Katrina made landfall.

13. Did you see the UN report on the emerging 3rd world-ness of the US.
He has embarassed us before the world. He has given comfort to the terrorist that now know we cannot respond to an attack on our soil.
