My son got hurt in Iraq-good news!!
I never thought I'd be saying this-but my son screwed up his knee jumping off the back of a truck-and I'm actually glad.He is being shipped to germany for knee surgery, and approx 4 months of rehab until he is "fit for duty".If he plays his cards right,he'll ride out his Active duty part in germany.I am so relieved(even though I know a knee injury is a bitch). He's done his time there(3rd deployment).

10. Bless your heart and your son's too. Three deployments in hell?
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 10:30 PM by Raster
Yeah, he's done his time. Maybe we can find a nice able-bodied little rethuglican chickenhawk to take his place. jeb bush has a son of military age, and in a way, he's VERY FUCKING RESPONSIBLE for us being in Iraq. Maybe he'd like to fill in for your son. Maybe jenna or babs the younger would like a hitch.

18. Yay! I mean, not for the injury but that he's going to Germany! :)
I hope he is discharged for good, and soon...

I know practically nothing about how long people must serve for. Does it look like he'll be coming home after he recovers? I have no idea about how many times they can keep sending people over there...

25. Wonderful
Knee injuries aren't great, but it had to be something bad enough to need something like surgery and rehab. Surgery can be pretty effective too.

It's all relative. Glad he didn't lose his leg instead, but a mom who lost a kid would love it if her kid had "just" lost his leg.

Three tours is too many in any war. In this war it's three too many. I am so happy for you, your son and all who care for him.
