Here's a "talking point" for you fine Dem Yankees
The first, the VERY FIRST search and rescue team on the ground in Louisiana was the "Vancouver Urban Search and Rescue" squad. They went in, did a great job and are now back here. In fact local firemen took down the U.S. flag and flew the Maple Leaf as the team left.
AS well, Canda has sent four warships loaded with supplies, are rounding up a shitload of firemen, and Canadians have gone into their own pockets to the tune of over 2 million (and trust me that will grow) in aid.

Plus, I hear Canada's Disaster Assistance response team (DART) is down there now.... which is the best in the world. I can produce 40,000 litres of freshwater a day and is a full fledged mobile hospital.

Look, again, I'm not looking for praise... that's not what this is about. But I've notice major US news has not said a thing about this AND have given false info about our help.

I'm telling you this so when some butt munching fundy fuckface says Canada only sent cots you can rebut... then tell him to drag his ass on a country road, swallow the dust, then fuck himself - from me.

Thank you Canada for your continuing decency. I'm pleased that those local firemen in a very Ameri-centric location did what they did. For them that's the highest praise they know---raising your flag.

Good on them! And, thank you all. Please let people know that there are those here who know and who are grateful. (BTW, I told people at the local shelter tonight over dinner so they would know who cares about *them* They were really happy.)

3. I love your passion, HeyHey!
and your moxy (fruvous)!

The rest of the world should be horrified at our govt's pathetic and shameful lack of, well, anything really. And they should also know of the great works of the Canadians and any other country that is helping and being marginalized by our BushCo-enabling media.

11. MMMMM WONDERBARS!
I love those!

It's funny, when my Kansas buddy told me that, where he is from, Americans love Canadian chocalate bars I couldn't believe it. Canada doesn't see itself as a good chocolate bar maker - so it was a bit of a shock

of a Ding-Dong, a Quebec-made snack cake. My friends in BC know of it, are you not in BC? I guess it is more of an eastern thing, however.

18. hey HEyHEY
you already know DU loves canada!

please don't feel left out when you are ignored by the corporate press. it happens to all of us. *is there a heavy sigh smilie?*

i am grateful for all the help the rest of our tiny planet has offered, doubly grateful for those who made it to a place where they could help. as far as i know, most countries stood/stand at the ready.

i am glad that canada made it thru/ignored red tape/missed the beaurocratic stops along the way/ wants and intends to help, and is helping.

canada rocks! thank you!

ANd I mean that. On the road, I've met so many great Americans. It's too bad you have this unsavoury reputation.

My friend and I at Universite du Quebec used to LOVE corrupting American students studying French.. hey, how were they to know happy hour can start anytime you want?

33. I found the source of the cots being sent, it was from a CBC article
20,000 Canadian cots sent for hurricane relief

convoy of 20 trucks left Montreal for Texas Tuesday, carrying 20,000 cots and blankets destined for the American Red Cross hurricane relief effort.

The Red Cross expects them to be dispatched to some of its 485 emergency shelters set up to accept more than 140,000 hurricane evacuees.

The president of the Quebec division of the Canadian Red Cross watched as the last crate of cots was loaded onto the back of a truck at an east end depot yesterday.

more

http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/09/07/cots_hurricane_relief_20050907.html

What isn't being said by the mainstream media is all the other aid and support that has been and is being sent.
