Bush to Canada: "You look like you could use some freedom"
and some liberation. Every Canadian's worst nightmare. Thank God they don't have much oil.

1. Actually Canada has a lot of oil.
A vast amount is in oil shale. They don't have to worry right now, but in the future...

4. Alberta is as a whole
The Athabasca Oil Sands are rich in oil; Fort McMurray in Northeast Alberta is in the center of it.

6. do you have a link?

When did he say this? What was the context?

Very strange. We probably have more "freedom" here than you do in America. I hope he's not planning to invade and "liberate" us... the last time the US tried that, we chased them back down to Washington and burned down the White House. We really don't want to have to do that again. :(

Oh, and by the way, Canada is the LEADING supplier of imported oil to the US.

Yes, that's right, the US imports more oil from Canada than it does from Saudi Arabia.

17. I think this was a DUer speculating....
on what BushCo might be trying in the future. And I agree, PET, you do have more freedom in many ways, at least by my measuring stick. Freedom from the worry of losing everything because of catastrophic doctor/hospital bills, freedom from the worry of losing your home because you lost your job and your UI runs out. I could go on and on. BTW, Trudeau is my favorite politician of all time.

8. Every time the US tried to invade us, it failed and, to top
it off, we went down and burned down the White House. That's why it is white now, they whitewashed it to cover up the scorch marks.

11. By that logic, Maryland destroyed the South and burned GA and SC
You seem to be conflating Canada (a nice country indeed) with The British Empire, during its hayday (arguably the strongest power the earth has ever seen)

14. Well, if we must be technical, yes but what was British became
Canadian and therefore part of our history therefore perfectly legitimate to claim our fame on that little 'incident'. LOL

16. I'll give you guys participation
On the other hand we got to thumb our nose at the most powerful country in the world twice and not only survived 2 invasions, but lived to become even mighter. Everyone's a winner. Except the UK, they seem to have kind of collapsed after WWII, but they're good sports about it. :toast:
