Vote Republican - It's Less Taxing
I saw that bumper sticker today in an office where I was interviewing.

The intended double-meaning lends some insight into the average voter's mind (or, at least the guy whose office I was in - and no, he didn't seem too bright). He/they just don't want to be bothered.

1. "If you want to live like a Republican - Vote Democratic"
Edited on Tue Jul-15-03 05:55 PM by Anj
It like that one better.

On edit: Is that better? I love that we can now change the headers, don't you?

3. That's DemocratIC, Anj
"Democrat Lawyer" (as opposed to the correct "Democratic Lawyer"), used in a sneering pejorative, is one of the main tenets of Goebbels v2.0 as "Jew Lawyer" (instead of "Jewish Lawyer") for exactly the same sloganeering slur-reasons.

Please don't carry the water for the Bushevik Totalitarian Redefiners of Words and Twisters of Language. They have enough help already.

2. What percentage of American's want lower taxes?
Has anyone ever seen a poll on this? I wonder if its 25% or 50% or 75%? I wonder about what percentage of the electorate cares about lower taxes.

4. polls

Asking 'Would you rather pay lower or higher taxes?' is like asking if people would like to have more or less money, human nature is going to determine the answer.

But frame the question differently and you'll get a different answer. Polls can really be bogus.

7. I care about lower taxes, but there are other taxes than the "income tax"
Edited on Tue Jul-15-03 06:04 PM by w4rma
And since we have a major problem in this country with the extremely wealthy buying up more and more of America's resources, I'd like to see more taxes come out of the "income tax" than "sales tax" or the "payroll tax" or price gouging from big corporations who mismanaged (or rediverted) their resources.

We need to turn the trend around so that the folks who are making $300K+/year aren't the only section of the country gaining in resources. If this trend isn't reversed a critical mass will be reached...

5. Republican taxes
Republicans DO favor "taxes"....."private taxes", as I like to call them. When Enron (thanks to Republican-fomented de-regulation), et al, ripped off California for billions of dollars, this was a "private" tax, for private benefit. Check your cable bill lately ? Or ATM fees at merged banks ? Higher insurance rates ? These are private taxes, too. They take money out of people's wallets just as sure as taxes do, but do not provide any public benefit whatsoever.

8. Voting Republican is Pennywise, pound foolish.
You save a percent or two now and lose the 15% you paid in SS/FICA/Medicare.

Tax and spend pays as you go.
Borrow and spend is far more expensive in the end.

And that's just the money, under Republicans we lose rights as well.
