Their Unrequited Love For Dubya Bush |
|
The conservatives accuse the Democrats of hating George Bush. No doubt, many Democrats may indeed hate him. Others intensely dislike him. Still others do not trust him. Others think he is incompetent and not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It is fair to say most Democrats do not respect George W Bush.
However, what is worse than the dislike of Bush by the Democrats is the unrequited love of Bush by the Republicans. He can do no wrong. If anyone attempts any criticism of him, most Republicans defend him almost to an irrational degree. His incompetence can be obvious to the world and they will continue to defend him. Which is more dangerous? The "hate" or the "unrequited love"? I would argue that the latter, mixed with the incompetence and deception, is much more dangerous.

He abuses the whole country, and yet his supporters defend him fanatically. I can't figure it out. Maybe they are so intellectually and emotionally invested in the politics of Bushery that they can't bear to admit, or even consider, what a total train wreck this administration is. It just baffles me.

Bush supporters are like a battered spouse. He can black their eyes and twist their arms out of socket, and they still love him. They will never leave him. Tomorrow, he will change...

7. Their love for him has nothing to do with policy |
|
It is psychology. If they suddenly begin to question him, they have to question many, many other things they've been fed to believe. And that is a painful realization.

10. And then there's Harry Truman's famous sign on his desk -- |

"The Buck Stops Here."
But for Bush, the buck just has to stop anywhere but with him.

For them, Bush represents a combination of John Wayne and their father-the perfect ideal, the ultimate Mr. Macho. To reject him is to reject the ideal they strive for as men. John Wayne could never do anything wrong, no matter what, and someone saying anything against John Wayne they would take the same way as being caled a "nancy-boy" or similar. It's the same with Brainstorm in a teacup.

Rush and his ilk had trained them to despise Clinton to such a degree than when Bush came into office, they flipped that mindset.

The "haves and have-mores" spend a lot of money on propaganda and it reaps rewards. They have gained control of our government and are bilking us for billions of dollars. it is unfortunate that the rest of us have to suffer for living in a nation of fools.
