Comfortably Numb....
Like a stone wall, with reality on the other side, we stand cold with our backs to the wind. We harden our resolve to withstand the pain and the spears. We stand alone in the silent meadows and no one can harm us. We will hum the soft song of winter until the spring wind warms us once again. We survive as others falter and bow down from the weight forced upon them. We shall wait for the birds to sing once again...

11. Sometimes these thoughts escape through my fingers...
I don't know if they are mine or if they belong to someone else...

3. Yes
I've been that way for so long now. I'm no longer hoping for anything to happen with my country's future. *sigh* I can only hope there's something nice instored for mine.

Ho Chi Minh - Poems From Prison - Translated by Kenneth Rexroth

GOOD DAYS COMING

Everything changes, the wheel
of the law turns without pause.

After the rain, good weather.

In the wink of an eye

The universe throws off
its muddy cloths.

For ten thousand miles
the landscape

Spreads out like
a beautiful brocade.

Gentle sunshine.
Light breezes. Smiling flowers,

Hang in the trees, amongst the
sparkling leaves,

All the birds sing at once.

Men and animals rise up reborn.

What could be more natural?

After sorrow comes happiness.

5. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
Come on, now.
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts,
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.
Ok.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more ...Aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working. Good.
That'll keep you going for the show.
Come on it's time to go.
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

12. I'm uncomfortably numb.....between fury...between sick to my stomach....
I can't even bear to watch the news and images of New Orleans...between the images of the dead, the suffering, the destruction and the military going door to door w/ assault rifles and NO looking more like Fallujah...

Oh Swamp Rodent...

How are you? How's the family? Any word on your dogs? What's the latest?

10. Your post reminds me of "March of the Penguins"
which I just saw the other day. Fabulous movie, and a great testament to the idea of community.
