Douglas Brinkley on IMUS ripping apart, Brown/FEMA/Bush
Brinkley: If you try to bring in supplies, FEMA won't let you in, and holds you up for 48 hours.

Also says FEMA mindset is wrong. They are so focused on terrorism, they need to have mindset of "immediate help."

Says it is such a bureaucracy. Lonely, childless people can't bring pets with them. Some of the "human touch" is gone.

"History will also show that President Bush behaved terribly. Exceedingly slow to the draw."

He said he couldn't believe that tuning in after H. Katrina, that Bush could talk about anything but H. Katrina.

Calls Mike Brown, "feckless and ineffective. He has just been awful."

Imus says the response was because of race and class of the people. He says officials (state and local included) felt like they had the right to argue back and forth, rather than help.

Imus: Either you think people are all equal or you don't.

Brinkley: This whole thing is about racism.

Remarks about insensitivity and specifically mentions Barbara Bitch Bush.

3. He also said
That at this point the Bush administration has no credibility. And there was a time when people were afraid of them, now ordinary people just laugh at them and tell them get out of the way, we are going to save people. Very telling

4. I don't listen to or watch Imus because I can't stand the snide
bullyboy attitudes of his sidekicks. How have they been behaving? Particularly that smarmy, acid tongued little engineer/producer?, Bernard(?)? Those guys have always trumpeted * as the macho god. I'm curious as to whether or not they've been able to rise to the occasion or have gone silent or are presenting the party line.

5. Imus has, says this is all about race and class
Bernie is touting the line, Why didn't they leave when they were ordered to leave. Blames the Mayor and Governor. Typical RW talking points.

7. Yes the historian.
Imus is too unpredictable. He loves and hates Dems and Rethugs. Yesterday it sounded like he ripped on Bush. Basically saying why should he be the one to investigate himself, he is the one who screwed up.
