How I handled a RWer at work...
I've had to listen to a few of these Bush* apologists where I work. I've heard about how massive the hurricane was, and of course, about the "Blame Game."

So I tried to put him in his place with a subtle comment: "You need to read a lot more about this."

Not only did he get quiet quickly, others stood back.

Is it just me seeing this? The RWer's only know the slogans, but when challenged, they have no substance.

1. You're in an Orwellian culture
Atleast where you work... the independent thought alarms probably came on, or something. Most of the Republicans I know act like big tough guys, but once you confront them with some facts they start to go crazy.. or the occassional "You know, I'm starting to agree with what you said about Bush..."

2. When confronted with fact or something they have not been
instructed on, they retreat quickly.

3. They know what they want to know.
We're talking serious cognative dissonance here. There were many who still believed in National Socialism all the way to May 1945. But yes, they are uninformed.
However, I think it is intentional.

Good response, though.

6. Isn't that always true with RWers? buses buses buses. If I hear about
buses one more time, My head will :nuke: Questions for the FReeptards.

JUST HOW THE HELL DO YOU PUT HOSPITAL PATIENTS ON A GD SCHOOL BUS? Or any bus for that matter? Oh and these genius' need to tell us just how many buses would have been needed to evacuate the population of NOLA that didn't have the means to get out. I don't think there were enough buses in NO to handle that. So HANNITYRUSHO'LIElySAVAGEWEINER, GOOD JOB with making your moronic supporters parrot the dumbest idea ever.

7. Ah, but the more they read, the more it scares them
Things don't look to be going so well, so they retreat into their safe little harbor of Rush, Hannity or Faux Nexs. Then they're comforted in hearing that it's all a big MSM conspiracy, "just the Cindy Sheehan and moveon.org crowd".

Now, a real person comes along and tells them to lift the blinders off their eyes, for just a minute. That's when they get scared.

9. I once knew a pretty nasty RW at work a few years ago...
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 07:28 AM by mark11727
...we were discussing something about the Clintons and he said "you need to stop reading comic books for your information", and I said "and you need to pull your head out of Rush's ass for yours."

He don't work here no more :) and nobody misses him either.

10. EXACTLY. You EXPOSED them...
They've been 'told' they're free-thinkers - but they're NOT.

They BELIEVE in what they're told and that's good enough for them.

You CALLED them on it and BOOM - they had NOTHING, because they DON'T THINK THEY JUST BELIEVE.

You did good, grasshopper!

11. They only regurgitate what they hear InSannity and the Oxycontin Kid...
...blasting out from their nice, safe, cool, dry studios...

"If you tell the people a lie often enough, it doesn't matter how big of a lie, but if you repeat it often enough, the people will come to believe it as the Truth..."

Goebbels, right? Or is it Rove?
