Do we have a "focused Dem. Leader" regarding Katrina...?
Who is "rebutting the mis-truths" 7x24 for the Dems?

* We have Hilary who is against a bush commission...that's good

* We have Kennedy speaking up on class and race issues ..that's good

* We have Kucinich and others saying things on the floor...good

But where is a leader -- on TV? Like it or not...people think that is
reality.

I think Dean would be awesome and capable to rebutt lies and all the issues...is TV just refusing to cover him or invite him on TV?

For those that say wait...let the repugs bury themselves. Right.
That strategy worked so well with Iraq and vote stealing...we can't wait.

We need accountabilty from our leaders when it comes to National Disasters... it's not blame..it's accountability.

Just like NO democrat screaming about gas prices and gouging. Americans are pissed about it.

When will they put a stake in the ground...and who will do that?

1. Maybe our time is different than others?
I'm with most of you here. I'm appalled that outrage directed at BUSH AND HIS ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION has not been expressed far and wide starting this week on every radio and TV show aired.

Two observations from last night:

I saw Sean Penn on Larry King and I expected him to blast the shit out of Bush's criminal negligence. In short, he said that he's torn about doing that but is following Mitch Landrieu's lead (AG of LA) who said that he feels it's time to focus on rescue efforts now and deal with the failures after that's done. He said Mitch Landrieu has been on the ground doing the hard work. I've not seen much about him; I assume he's Mary's brother or relative of some sort?

Secondly, I watched Joe Scarborough, big republican. He started the show by ranting that this isn't about not LIKING Bush, that if his own mother screwed up this much, it's his job to expose it and shout it far and wide (I'm paraphrasing). He said he's had Republican governors and other officials from around the country calling to tell him to back off criticism of the president.

Just observations....I'm hoping the backlash we are getting depressed that we don't see is still coming....just not fast enough for us.

3. Democrats have been marginalized by the opposition, and by their
own political cowardliness.

Save for a few, like the wonderful John Conyers, the majority of Democrats I am so sad to say, are spineless.

Until we have a Paul Hackett type voice, with strength of conviction and straight forward talk.......we get the Democrats we have, not the ones we want.

5. and we let the media "spear" Howard Dean -- I will never forget
actually I think it was TPTB that ousted Dean

They preferred Kerry vs Bush...Dean was a voice of change.

8. HOWARD DEAN was speared by his OWN party, starting with
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 07:22 AM by Ninga
the Iowa primary, grainy black and white TV ads showing him and Osama and his statement that we were not safer because Saddam had been captured!!!!! Sponsored and PAID for by Democrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never, never, never forget that.

It stared with Al Franken hosting a brainstorming for Kerry early December '03 and out of that meeting came the stratagy to outst Dean and provide talking points for Kerry.

We get the Democrats we have, not the ones we want.

edited for typo.

choice)

Dean was talking in ways that threaten power and expose corporations...he even spoke of splitting up the media cartels...said it on Tweety's show-- I saw that and knew he was cooked.

4. The President put another big notch in his belt
and his cronies are very happy. Halliburton gets more dough and the oil companies will have a windfall for years to come. Gas prices expected to rise 71% here in MN. I can hardly wait, since dubby came around the prices have already doubled.
It looks sadly like no one wants to cross the criminal enterprise.

9. "silence speaks volumes" -- there is a quote from Dr. King on silence
something about "good people who can see -- but say nothing"

11. Bill is enabling Bush
I'd like to know where Clark is, has Fox been giving him any air time or has he been marginalized? I know the primetime shows won't use him cause he is too strong for them to rebut.

12. When you're in the minority, you don't really have a leader
That's the problem with being in the minority.
