Imagine criminal negligence Defendant say "blame games" not appropriate |
|
A defendant in a criminal negligence case (drunk driving, recklessness of various sorts, etc) could NEVER suggest to a court that the court or a jury that no process of "blame game" should be engaged in.
The only (basic) defense to criminal negligence is "I wasn't criminally negligent". But to prove that defense all the facts have to come out.
It's never a "blame game" when it's a serious matter.
Imagine the not guilty OJ suggesting that the jury should not engage in blame games. Imagine the response of the RW media echo chamber.
If there's a serious debate that there has been criminal negligence then there CAN BE NO BLAME GAME. Period.
It might be "business as usual" to drive drunk, and this might "work" for a long time. But when the accident finally happens and someone dies, it sure as heck is criminal negligence!!

but we're going to wait a couple of weeks to start the investigation, you know, to let things cool down.
