Aparently the Astrodome is in lockdown and fights are breaking out while waiting in lines for the debit cards? They said people have been waiting outside for hours. It's in the 90's down here. Come on now, there's got to be a better way to do this.

so it may have nothing to do with the cards. Under this lockdown, FOX can say anything it wants and people will believe it. After all, these are a bunch of blackies who will slit your throat for the shoes on your feet, or that is what the idea behind this report is. IT serves the purposes of the Repukes and the racists, so take it with a grain of salt.
Maybe the fights are BECAUSE opf the lockdown, but hell, we won't know until we get accounts from the inside from trusted sources (or multiple eye-witness accounts).

6. It "helps" reinforce the "lawlessness" of "those people" |
|
....after all we tried to do to help them ....can't control themselves ....aren't respectful of authority ....are greedy and just want the money ....can't wait to get that money and go buy junk ....(insert your own here)
Even though they have showered, cleaned up and have their hair and teeth brushed now, they are never going to be fully accepted as "worthy"..

9. when you start warehousing people like cattle . . . |

you don't have to wait too long for disorder . . . and in some cases, it seems that FEMA is taking steps that actually encourage disorder . . .

12. The evacuees are all registered from what I understand. |
|
I wouldn't start handing out cards until everything has been processed and organized. The cards would have to be put inside an envelope with the name and SSN of the person it goes to and they would have to be in alphabetical order already.
I would then call groups of people out by the first letter of their last name instead of having everyone line up outside at once. I would also want to reassure the entire center every 20 minutes or so that there are more than enough cards to go around and that the best thing to do is to wait until your letter is called and be patient.
These people are stressed to the max. If you don't keep things as organized and calm as possible, tempers will flare pretty quickly. The kids in there don't need to see more fighting and anger.

11. I think the Dome is less organized than other places |
|
(I'm in Houston)
My husband went to the Dome this weekend and he said that while people were thankful and relieved, their situation seemed disorganized and chaotic (little kids running around unsupervised, people everywhere, lots of yelling, etc.)
A co-worker of mine went to the George R. Brown this weekend and said the opposite. She said GRB really had their act together. Everything was well organized and everyone was calm. She was really impressed at how smoothly the GRB had coordinated all the people and their needs.
Perhaps the Dome just isn't as well organized as it should be and needs some better direction.
