How do I counter Republican stupidity?
The other day some Republican accused me of blaming Bush for Hurricane Katrina.

No, it wasnt about how he RESPONDED to Hurricane Katrina (read: pretend like it didnt exist). He accused me of blaming Bush for the hurricane.

So how the hell do I counter such a blatantly stupid argument?

3. I heard a similar argument in the lunchroom yesterday...
I wish I knew. Sadly, I have a feeling most of these folks just won't get it. Trying to explain it would be a waste of time. Even if you used small words and talked slowly.

4. they're just trying to confuse the issue again.........

ask him exactly what did you or anyone else say that states that the hurricane was Bush's fault!! I guarantee you he won't be able to cite a specific example, because it's just not true!

The truth is, NO ONE has ever blamed Bush for the hurricane. Democrats are not that stupid! But clearly, Bush is responsible for the lack of response regarding the hurricane in the days that followed.........

8. That was my counter argument: We're not that stupid.
He then accused me of being a stupid liberal (like every other brainless Limbaugh listener) and then I just said "fuck it" and that was the end of the argument.

10. He wasn't responsible for the Hurricane
but he was responsible for the aftermath -- such as the levees bursting because of the funds cut for FEMA, and for his crony being in charge of FEMA.

He should also be held accountable for continuing his vacation, going to fund-raisers, etc., etc. after the hurricane hit.

11. Laugh at them
Speak to them as if they were a five year old - "No, no, I'm not blaming him for the hurricane" (say the word hurricane very slowly, enunciating each syllable so they're sure to understand) - "I'm blaming him for the poor response to it."

Then pat them on the head, give them a lollipop and walk away, chuckling.

12. Say "No, that would mean I think Bush is God..."
"and unlike you, I'm able to recognize mortal failure."
