HOW THE DEMOCRATS SHOULD ATTACK POLITICALLY ON HURRICANE KATRINA
Here's how the Democrats should attack Bush:

(1) Point out how piss-poor FEMA and Homeland Security responded to the disaster in the days after. Point out that with Brownie and Chertoff in charge, this is what we can expect from a federal government when the next disaster/terrorist strike occurs.

(2) Point out how vast economic inequities lead to the loss of life and how the poor and the infirmed are not taken care of in our country.

(3) Point out how the "White Man's" affirmative action works. Brownie was woefully unqualified to head FEMA, but was given the job because he had a personal relationship with Bush. Go through ALL government agencies and point out other "White Men" affirmative action hires.

(4) Point out the gross incompetentices of this administration of "adults".

(5) Point out how poor planning in Iraq contributed to this disaster at home, and how Iraq is leaving us more and more vulnerable.

These are just off the top of my head, but every Dem should be pounding on Bush, day in and day out, over this disaster. They should not let Bush off the hook for one minute. There's enough here to drive the Republicans out of office in 2006 and beyond.

If the Democrats cannot re-take the congress after this, then they are completely irrelevant as an opposition party.

Democrats need to start whacking the right wing GOP on a Big Level about the basic issue of wealth and power.

Bush's bad leadership is an issue, but IMO the Big Picture is that the the Corporate Conservative Ethos is screwing everyone but the very rich. Katrina exposed how wide that gulf has become.

2. Why do we qualify our response to willful negligence by qualifying
it as political in the title thread?

Why?
