If Dick Cheney took a heart attack and dropped dead tomorrow...
whom do you think * would choose as his successor? This could be very important during the upcoming impeachment proceedings, because that would be the next president. I sure hope he wouldn't pick Santorum, the frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex. And not Dennis Hastert, either, yech...

5. I think you are probably right
With Rumsfeld on the outside.

They want somebody they can run as president - and Condi fits the bill.

That has to be the key consideration - who can they get to run in 2008.

14. Rice
or James Baker. Rumsfeld has gained too much negative attention, even within republican circles.

It's possible that Bush himself would try to step up and take Cheney's position.

19. No, Rummy is 2nd in command ... and likes to be on TV too much.
Cheney works best in the dark ... showing the cockroach DNA. Only a completely amoral, greedy, malicious, and secretive bastard could replace Cheney. Wolfowitz comes close, but carries too much dirty laundry. It would have to be someone who did a "tour" as a CEO in the bottom-feeding private sector, like Cheney. Maybe the current Halliburton CEO would take up the reins.

6. My guess is Rice
The republican power structure could control her completely and they might figure that they'd get most Republican voters to back her as well as a big chunk of Democrats because of her race and gender.

30. Not that the dems would actually support her
but they could claim that they did when they run her in 08 and steal that election.

24. If there was only one person in America
who was excited on 9/11/01, it must have been Condit. The Levy story evaporated (for the general public at least) after that.

18. Oh ...
I was under the strong impression that Cheney was just Disney-style animatronics.

The heart, in that case, would be an oil-pump to lubricate the bullshit. Robots don't die, they just get repaired or upgraded.

25. I can see it now. His lackeys all lined up like kids on the playground
waiting to be picked for a game of kickball. Jumping up & down with their hands in the air, shouting "Ooh, ooh, pick me, pick me!"

As for whom * would choose, probably no one. Somebody(ies) else would make that decision.
