Angry Kanye West is a Raging Success (2nd highest opening on charts 2005)
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/344424p-293860c.html

It might not thrill President Bush, but one of his most vocal new foes, Kanye West, has racked up the second-biggest opening-sales week of the year.

"Late Registration," the sophomore CD from the opinion-filled rapper, opened at No. 1 on Billboard's latest Top 200 Album chart, with bang-up sales of 862,582 copies.

The only album to top that this year has been 50 Cent's "The Massacre," which pushed more 1.1 million platters in its first boom.

It's unclear to what extent West's sales were boosted by his unscripted screed against the President's response to the New Orleans disaster, which he injected into Friday's "Concert for Hurricane Relief" on NBC

2. That would have happened anyway.
Kanye's record was one of the (if not THE) most anticipated of the year.

Not that I care for RS much lately, but Rolling Stone gave it 5 stars. I think the last time they gave a record 5 Stars was Automatic for the People or something.

4. I bought it, don't like the music but I'm glad he did well :)
I wasn't about to let the machine ruin him over this. Everyone should buy a copy to encourage musicians to speak their hearts and minds and not be afraid of it damaging their careers. Kanye has been a very welcome spokesman lately.

5. Kanye's been saying a lot of good things lately.
I'm happy that the public has been able to thank him properly.
