Using the survivors of katrina
Before I get to the point of my post, I want to say that most people are doing everything they can to help the survivors and I think it's a great testament to how we unite to help those in times of need.

Okay, now my cynicism and lack of trust in politicians. Many states are caring for survivors by placing them in shelters and other various different environments.

It seems to me that many of the politicians of these states now have just a tad more leverage as a result. They can proclaim how many survivors came to their state and all they did to help them. I can see this from all levels of government. I don't doubt some are heartfelt, but not all.

Tennessee is supposed to get 10,000 to 12,000. With guys like Frist and Alexander, I do think they'd go in for their photo-op, Frist might play doctor once again (hide your cats), and talk about how they met the needs and use the survivors for their own benefits.

It just seems to me many of the survivors will probably be used to score political points. I don't plan on letting any of them get away with it.
