Tulane University level 3 biodefense lab -- any damage?
Below is a link to an article about Tulane's research lab, working with tuberculosis, yellow fever, dengue and West Nile agents as well as ongoing research in AIDS, SARS, botulism, plague, Lyme disease, smallpox, anthrax and tularemia.

Please tell me this site was not damaged.

I'm bothered by the de facto quarantine imposed by the military against thousands who only wanted to LEAVE New Orleans. Those who were processed through shelters were screened by medical personnel, and then evacuated. Those who simply tried to leave were stopped.

I want to know if there was a quarantine, and why.

1. That's been asked several times
and there's been no answer.

I'm going to make a major assumption, and figure everything was locked and sealed before any evacuation.

However medical screening at this point would make sense...not because of any lab...but because of the normal things that follow an event like this...cholera, dysentery, ecoli, and all other types of illness and viruses.

A week with most things under contaminated water will do lots of damage all on it's own.

3. I read an article just after the hurricane hit... maybe Wed.
An aids researcher stayed to protect his project. They were frozen and delicate, but since power, etc... went out. He had to evac. Gosh it's been awhile, it did not say he burnt his collection which really worried me.

Give me a bit and see if I can't backtrack through my history.

4. Tulane Primate Center is actually across the lake in Covington
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulane_University#Campuses

Some damage there, but not nearly as severe as N.O. to the south or Slidell to the east. Should be all right... one hopes...
