of Bushco's militarism, appetite for secrecy, and abridgement of civil liberties.

I keep checking the (R) next to his name to make sure I'm really hearing a republican speaking.

Ron's an oddity, but Republicans (so far) can safely ignore him. He has no juice, he's not a player. Note how many around here haven't heard of the guy. That's no accident.

26. Want to see something breathtaking?
His 35-question critique of the rush to war, made a month before the IWR vote:

http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec2002/cr091002.htm

He's also written a number of articles for magazines on Iraq and the appalling Patriot Act these past few years. Some are reprinted on the web.

40. I believe all Libertarians want responsible governance.
I believe most want protection of individual choices with a JUST AND EQUAL STRUCTURE that will be prohibited from abuse.

I don't believe Libertarians seek anarchy. They want equity, social and economic.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian who's been speaking out against the Neocons for some time. His 2003 floor speech "Neo-conned" is how I learned about these anti-American traitors. The Repukes have effectively marginalized him.

29. He's in the Republican Party because he shares Grover Norquist's vision
of shrinking government until it's small enough to drown in the bathtub. Just because he's correct on the issue of Iraq, doesn't mean he's not a dangerous rightwing ideologue. The guy was the presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party at one point. The social Darwinist vision of those crackpots is totally at odds with the ideals of the progressive movement. He's not to be trusted.

47. My explanation
Many politicians run whatever ticket they think will get them in office. For example, I know a very liberal woman who ran locally as a Republican so she could win office, I live in Charleston, SC (pretty conservative area). Maybe Ron Paul lives in a very Republican area...?

I don't particularly agree with this method since it's misleading and I can see it being used in a negative way. But if these people feel that they can represent their people and they have their constituents best interests in mind...I can see it being used in a positive way as well.

Most people will only vote their own party...they view politics as some big football game and are completely apathetic to what's really going on in this country as well as abroad. They only get involved with politics during election time...if at all.

28. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich working together.
The Beginning of the End of the War in Iraq

Updated August 2, 2005

On June 16, two Democrat and two Republican Representatives introduced a bi-partisan Resolution to begin the process of withdrawing American troops from Iraq.

Members of Congress Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), Walter Jones (R-NC) and Ron Paul (R-TX) introduced the Bill along with additional cosponsors Martin Meehan (D-MA), Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) and Barbara Lee (D-CA). Now, as of July 29, the bill has 45 cosponsors from both sides of the aisle.

The Homeward Bound Act, H.J. Res. 55, is a binding Resolution calling for President Bush to announce by the end of 2005 a plan for withdrawal from Iraq that would begin by October 1, 2006.

The Bill is intentionally crafted to avoid partisan finger-pointing and recriminations. Referring to the bi-partisan sponsorship of the Bill, Dennis said it was possible "because four Members of Congress put aside any kind of differences that we may have had in the run-up to the war and the conduct of the war, and we're saying this is the way to bring our troops home."
