Photobucket.com just changed their Terms of Service.
I had to 'agree' again before I could log in. I don't remember the old terms, but I think I would have remembered this stuff...

Restrictions on the use of the Services.

By using the Services you agree that you will not:

Use the Services for any illegal purpose;

1. Upload, email or otherwise transmit any images that are unlawful, obscene, harmful, threatening, defamatory, hateful, invade the privacy of any third party, or are otherwise objectionable. Photobucket.com does not control the content of users' accounts and does not have any obligation to monitor such content for any purpose. You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for all content and material you provide to the Service;

2. Upload, email or otherwise transmit any content that you do not have the lawful right to transmit (including any content that would violate any confidentiality or fiduciary obligations that you might have with respect to the content) or any content that infringes the intellectual or proprietary rights of any third party (including, but not limited to, copyright, trademark, service mark or patent rights) including but not limited to derivative works of such content, defacement of such content, or content that would violate the right of privacy or publicity of any public or non-public persons;

"Otherwise objectionable"? "Defacement of copyrighted content"?

Are they saying no more Photoshops?

5. I saw that the other day
So far all my stuff is still there, including photoshopped news pics. We'll have to see what happens. I'd hate to have to move and break all my links.

6. I don't think it means no Photoshops.
I don't completely understand all the legalese. but it sounds like they're covering their a**es against copyright problems and b;atent disregard of hate speech and pics.

It doesn't look like a problem to me.

23. Sounds like a CYA on their part. Just tryin to stay out of court.
I could be wrong, but this all sounds like they're just trying to do a little CYA here.

Much the same as drug companies saying Possible side effects can be.....

10. So what's the problem?
Theyr'e saying that they expect you to comply with copyright law, as well as not storing libelous or slanderous pictures on their site.

It's not censorship or anything else nefarious.

11. They're just saying
if you upload something that offends someone, that's our TOS so don't sue us. The key to that is:

"Photobucket.com does not control the content of users' accounts and does not have any obligation to monitor such content for any purpose. You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for all content and material you provide to the Service;"

25. Thank you for pointing that out, Mr Burch.
For Christ's sake, they're just saying that you can't use their service to do anything illegal, such as infringing other people's copyrights, or for libel, slander, or harassment.

This stuff cuts both ways, as Ben pointed out.

Nobody needs to get his or her knickers in a knot about this.
