The Relief Concert
What did everyone think about the relief concert? I was happy that Chris Rock had the courage to say "George Bush hates migeates" in response to the uproar caused by Kayne West's comment that "Bush does not care about black people". I really like the song that the Dixie Chicks performed and I thought Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys did great jobs performing. So what did others think?

Watch Bill Maher. George Carlin is a guest. I bet he's pissed and doesn't show up in a $5,000 sequined gown.

3. Neil Young and Dr. John are always a pleasure to watch . . .
as are U2 . . . Dixie Chicks were excellent, and it was good to hear a couple of groups do Credence songs (wonder where Fogarty was) . . . I have a hunch we'll be seeing several more events like this in the coming weeks . . .

6. Yea
I also thought they should have allowed Credence to do their own songs. The Foo Fighters did an okay job, but sometimes I think once certain people do a particular song noone can come around a do the song.

4. Paul Simon's set was especially moving.

I loved the contrast between his melancholy "Take Me To The Mardi Gras" and the New Orleans brass band. There was so much life in it, and I thought, "No way are Americans going to let New Orleans go. Ever."

It was the only moment that made me cry, so considering the past days, that's a small victory.

U2 with Mary J. Blige were divine. And Rod Stewart's set!

John Fogerty should have been there, but it was nice to see that two Creedence songs made the short show (Foo Fighters and Garth Brooks).

Kanye recovered nicely from the technical difficulties at the beginning of his song. "Jesus Walks" was the perfect choice for him, and the dialed-back version was appropriate.

All in all, it was a good show, but far too short, and it left me wanting more.

So I turned over to BET and got two more hours of gut-wrenching music.

Anyone who missed Mary J. Blige's song must find a version online immediately. She captured the pain of Katrina and her victims in a way nobody else has, or will, I believe.

I wonder what MTV will do with this format tomorrow... they've got some really huge names, and three hours. I just hope they do it justice, because their coverage of Live 8 was horrendous.

I think you are talking about the song she sung on BET. So what song did she sing on BET.
