3. With Adult humour, comedians punch through to truths. Adolescents |
|
like Ann Coulter have humor based on making fun of the other.
Adults like the truth. They like learning about themselves.
The only people who are really bad at humour are sociopaths. They, having no feelings, don't understand the "emotional value of words" so they cannot be funny in anything but an adolescent way.
In a way, the humour between Jon Stewart, or whoever, and people, is an arena that sociopaths cannot compete in. The humour involves 'self knowledge, empathy, all manner of emotions, etc.'. It is simply a place the neocons cannot compete in or control.
Thank god for comedians.
Charlie Chaplain was also able to speak directly to the people irregardless of the powers that be.

29. That is a very clear statement about something very important to |
|
remember. Comedians like Carlin and Pryor and back to Lenny Bruce and Mark Twain cut through the flim-flam and hypocrisy and expose the truth about how things really are.

I've been taping Sci-fi all night for hubby, and missed all the other shows. As soon as this is over, I was going to start surfing the news channels.
Maher & Carlin are such a better alternative.

The AEI guy is spouting the party line nd the rest are knocking him down fact by fact. Carlin is brilliant and even Maher is getting excited.

31. I loved his joke about the rest of Bush's term having turned into |
|
the Bush family's worst nightmare: having to help poor black people. He said it during his closing remarks which he directed right at Bush, suggesting that Bush would be much happier if he resigned and went looking for something new to screw up.

the neocon American Enterprise Institute think tank. http://www.aei.org/research/politicalCorner/projectID.14/default.aspHe had the party line down didn't he? Glib posterboy with all the right answers. Carlin didn't buy it. The group stood up to his propaganda well.
