3. Our church was considering a Katrina vigil and since Sunday is 9/11.....
of course some folks on the council suggested it be combined with a 9/11 rememberance.

I almost bit my tounge in half to keep from saying "yeah, 9/11 would be good to commemorate at the same time so we could remember why our troops are in Iraq instead of helping in Louisiana."

Anyway I could tell the Katrina vigil wasn't going to happen anyway so I let the 9/11 combo deal fall by the wayside without actively killing it -- one of the keys to leadership is to let bad ideas fail on their own instead of making an enemy of their originator.

5. are you kidding?

hey, if people left organizations just because a few members had bad ideas, Congress would be empty.

6. Me too!
I saw a small clip of Karen Hughes speech following her appointment/installation today. She compared 9/11 to Katrina too and I'm sick of it.

8. Karen Hughes, in her new job, claimed the looters in New
Orleans gave the US a bad name and image. I. Don't. Think.So.
The war in Iraq has given the US a bad name. Katrina is a lot more icing on this cake. It's going to get ugly. And this ADMIN is RESPONSIBLE! PERIOD, END OF SENTENCE, END OF DISCUSSION. WAKE THE FUCK UP, AMERICA!!!!!

10. I saw the LBN thread about her after I posted above. I'm disgusted.
She is some piece of work, blaming looters for the USA's bad image abroad. By the way, don't forget Gitmo, rejection of the ICC and Kyoto Treaty, mini nukes and dissing "Old Europe".

What worries me is what the "*" Administration will do here at home (and overseas) to protect our image abroad. Things like banning photographs of Katrina's dead bodies set me on edge.

WAKE THE FUCK UP AMERICA!!!! Well said babylonsister.

9. Ahh that explains it
that's why i heard that message being pushed CNN today- "Mother nature attacked us". 911 and the hurricane are the same thing now. Bush got his second devistation and now we need to pull behind him.

rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat

12. You want to know why?
Cause effect, there is always such a thing.

If presented with the similarities it's doubtfull you will find them on your own.

They also want to control the structure of the thoughts 9/11 and Katrina could you imagine if they let it become about how our queer president is not very good under pressure.
