1. Means "no text".
eom is "end of message", though I am not sure what the difference is.

13. These are all explained in the Demopedia
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 01:23 AM by bananas
There's a link to the Demopedia at the top of the page.

Demopedia Main Page
http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/index.php/Main_Page

Type "n/t" in the search box and you get
http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/index.php/Nt

which has a link to the Category: DU Glossary
where you can browse all the commonly used acronyms.

14. In politics, a meme is a perceived truth or talking point of the day...
and a process that delivers them to the public. A meme refers to any piece of information passed from one mind to another. The talking point or fad of the day, if you will. The interesting thing is to examine what the effect of a particular meme has on unspecting people and how their attitudes change. It's all about perceived truth, and the hell with facts. Look at what the damn Swiftboat liars did to John Kerry

12. here ya' go:
The crickets chirping implies silence, except, of course, for the crickets chirping.
Typically utilized to demonstrate lack of response to a comment.

10. While we're on the subject
"nt" needs to go in the subject line in order to be useful. The purpose is to let users who do not "view all" decide whether they want to open the post, particularly useful for those on dial-up connections. It defeats the purpose to put "nt" in the message and not in the subject.
