tuition-free enrollment at Emma Willard this fall to five young women from
the area impacted by Hurricane Katrina

I found the below on my union's BBS:

"I got a message from my daughter's school today. They are offering tuition-free enrollment at Emma Willard this fall to five young women from the area impacted by Katrina, who might need "a safe welcoming community at this time".Two of my daughters have attended Emma. I can say without reservation, that it is arguably the finest single sex prep school in the country. Please pass this on to anyone you know that may be able to take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity. The contact person at the school is Kent Jones, who can be reached at kjones@emmawillard.org. I will forward the complete text of the e-mail I received to anyone who wishes to contact me."

I contacted the Director of Admissions of the above school. It was my intention to pass that request on to a very large discussion group (~80,000) I'm a member of. My concern was that it might generate more responses than they could easily handle. The reply was as follows:

I appreciate your contacting me about permission to post our information on the listserve you mention. I am willing to try to handle the many contacts this might result in if it helps students. My only caution would be to make it clear that our academic program is quite rigorous, so teachers would have to consider this in making appropriate referrals.

An alternative might be to post the url of the Southern Association of Independent Schools where you will find a comprehensive national listing of independent boarding schools that have volunteered to take on displaced students. This url can be found at http://www.sais.org/documents/201.pdf Thanks for your assistance.
