Well, Bill Maher did it Again, let one of Shrubs cheerleaders run the..
show, and then give him credit for it.James Glassman has his Kkkarl training, disrupting any objective point. Kurt Vonnagut was brilliant, George Carlin wasn't.New rules rocked, Bill knows how to nail Shrub.

1. I disagree. I thought the show was just about perfect.
Glassman didn't need any help making a bumbling fool out of himself either.

The other two panelists were brilliant, as was Maher.

2. He did let him get away with some horrendous statements...
though he did make him concede the fact that bush sucks during a crisis. What I do not like, is when bill reprimands the crowd when they applaud, and how he does it, as if to dismiss them. It does not sound as if it is too loud to prevent anyone from speaking, though I will admit it probably is much different in the studio. Anyone else feel this way?

8. I think of Maher more as a "liberaltarian"...
He certainly was gung-ho for the Iraq war. I don't know if he has changed his position on that. (?) He is only liberal on some issues, more libertarian on others.

19. I'm no libertarian..
.... but one thing is for sure the very basis of libertarian beliefs is steadfastly against "foreign entanglements" including wars like Iraq.

The only Libertarian congressman I know of, Ron Paul, is VEHEMENTLY anti-Iraq.

6. Give The Audience Some Credit
Most of us watching despise meester booosh and his regime, the more Glassman spoke, the more of an asshat he and his manchild looked.

Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution was brilliant as usual. She put Glassman in his place several times and when she didn't Carlin smacked him down.

This isn't CNN or Faux...it's HBO...be assured there aren't too many dittoheads who were tuned in. Mahrer sometimes attempts to over pander to the right, but almost always to give them a lot more rope to hang themselves. Glassman was a perfect example.

15. I agree about how he controls the audience and also, when he says
"I kid you" when saying something very controversial, ticks me off.

3. maher's a comedianne
it's simply ludicrious that the maher show, or comedy central's DS etc would be looked to to provide some decent news reportage...as citizens, taxpayers, liberals should hammer away at this; greg palast, molly ivans and other anti busheviks should have national exposure ...,.but don't, because truth is toxic to the fat fukking pig!

As far as Information I have more faith in Stewart/Maher than 90% of msm.

25. didya here the one about clinton?
;)
maher's best joke...bill clinton goes to a store to buy a pot, but comes home with a 1/4 ounce. hillary asks 'but how we going to cook supper?' and bill says 'this time we inhale'!
(if you think this is a stupid joke, you don't appreciate mixed wits)

13. Non RW hosts need to be very careful about this.. they need to CALL
the RWers on their tactic of shouting down and shouting over everyone even when they arent' on one of "their" shows (Hannity, O'Reilly etc.). Need to point out the simple RUDEness of this, and cut off the Winger when they start doing it.

Hell, even McLaughlin cuts off wingers to make sure the others on his show don't get drowned out, and he's a Repub!

21. Thanks, I'm starting to get the drift
Those AEI folks really suck! They seem to know it all, yeah right. :argh:

As for Maclaughlin Group, I have always loved that show and he comes out with some surprising answers sometimes. The left is a little weak there, but Eleanor Clift tries her heart out.

17. What was odd is that at a couple of times I thought Glassman
seemed to drop his veneer. First, when he admitted that people died because of Bush and when he had a 30 year flashback, and secondly, how he used to love to read Vonnegut.

One thing anyone could have pointed out to him was that his daughter and her family, because of their affluence, were able to get out of New Orleans. Someone could have asked him if they were now in a shelter.

20. Carlin was on fire
I thought Maher was kinda of like a heavyweight prizefighting referee who saw one guy getting blugdeoned to death and was tryin to give him air. I wish maher didn't have rwing croonies on his show at all. Do these people really need more air time?

26. I think giving them air time on left-leaning shows
is brilliant. It makes their idiocy even more apparent by contrast.

22. You must have been watching a completely different version than....
I did then. What do you think the Repug on the panel is going to say? Never once did the others let that guy's hack statements go unpunished. That is the point to the whole show is to have different view points be told. If you cant handle hearing that, you might want to stick to AAR.

23. Carlin not brilliant? What were you watching?
Silver Douche? Governor Bush?
Maher even got the BS man to admit that "W is not very good in a crisis"
And many of his statements got laughter from the audience ("The economy is just peachy")
