Photo: "A dog hides at an evacuee processing center in New Orleans" |
A dog hides under the seat of a military truck at a processing center after evacuees got off the vehicle in New Orleans September 9, 2005. Tens of thousands of pets have been left behind in the swamped city by their evacuated owners. Recovering the dead took priority over coaxing the living out of New Orleans on Friday as the Bush Administration replaced the head of its emergency management team in a political storm following Hurricane Katrina. Holdouts remain while rescue units search for those wishing to evacuate. REUTERS/Lee Celano http://news.yahoo.com/photos/ss/events/ts/080304tropicalweathe

8. Dogs and cats are ALWAYS man's (and woman's) BEST FRIEND..... |
how can they be abandoned and killed at a time like this. Their demise and destruction is unconscionable and there is NO EXCUSE. Thank you to the animal rescue organizations that understand these pets lives are important too!!

9. They are shooting them |
In St Bernard's Parish, Sgt Mike Minton from the sheriffs dept is shooting the dogs. I just watched the video clip from the Dallas news of him heartlessly doing this. This MUST stop! I have the link but I'm not sure about posting it.

...showing a tiny little dirty dog in misery in N.O., and I wish I could find it again. I think it was on a railroad track. Does anyone have it?

11. I Hate You, Fucking Heartless Republicans! |
It makes me so fucking mad I can't stand it--all because the incompetent crony of the incompetent Bush put out an order that animals CAN'T be saved with their humans, and that the humans MUST leave. Now, on top of everything else, you have this huge, needless tragedy. Didn't anyone even think that, aside from everything else, rescue and recovery workers might now be attacked by packs of now-becoming-feral dogs? I hope this dog, and all others, will be okay, but that is unlikely, since the Bush assholes are still here. God help these helpless creatures; the "money-saving" Republicans will all be judged for this.
