Brown is STILL the head of FEMA
These fuckers will fire NO ONE. HE'S STILL THE CHIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~snip~ Mr. Brown, who was removed from his Gulf Coast duties on Friday, though not from his post as FEMA's chief, is the first casualty of the political furor generated by the government's faltering response to the hurricane ~snip~

1. But of course!
And Bush stayed out of his recall, Chertoff made the decision to send Brown back to Washington. Wouldn't want to say Bush changed his mind!

2. For now, but
according the news rumors, he "planned" to leave FEMA after this hurricane season was over.

3. And still on the payroll, for doing what...
besides the FUBARization of a once useful federal agency.

4. Here is an easy way to contact your Senators/Reps about Brown.

HE'S BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SCENE OF THE CRIME, BUT WHY IS MICHAEL BROWN STILL DIRECTOR OF FEMA?

Lowering the integrity standard yet again, President Bush declared today that anybody executed for treason would no longer work in his administration. No, he didn't actually say that . . . but seriously now, how incompetent and inept does one have to be to lose his job as a crony of this president? Consider Michael Brown, whose criminal inaction turned a survivable hurricane into a category 5 catastrophe for the entire Gulf Coast. And now we learn that the ONLY previous emergency management experience on Brown's resume was faked! We all know that Bush is not interested in playing the indictment game, so isn't it time that we finally demand some accountability? Demand that Bush FIRE Michael Brown immediately.

http://www.usalone.net/fema.htm

The president did actually say that "Brownie," his pet name for the FEMA director, was doing "a heck of job" in the aftermath of the storm. Of course he also said that nobody could have anticipated that the levees would break. Although dire warnings from every quarter had predicted exactly that looming danger (see National Geographic, Oct. 2004, for example), Bush axed their repair and maintenance budgets. And he put in charge of the agency that would respond to a major terrorist attack a man with no experience and no credentials except as a frat boy bootlicker. Tell your members of Congress that Brown must go NOW, before the next disaster in the making cripples the rest of our economy.

You can use the one-click action page above to instantly transmit your personal message to all your members of Congress, and, at the same time, send a Letter to the Editor of your nearest daily newspaper. There is more information on the site about the Roberts nomination, and please check out also -- http://www.OpEdNews.com, the best source of real news and opinion on the web. Write your senators and representative now and tell them to take some personal responsibility for stopping the crony corruption of George Bush.

15. And bush*s track record for appointing clueless fools to high places
should be pointed out to our congress critters when we contact them on the matter of Advice and Consent for Supreme Court nominees!

Dear Congressman/Senator XXXX,

Please consider that Roberts has only 2 years total experience as a judge. To make him a member of the Supreme Court, let alone its Chief Justice, would be to repeat the mistakes made by having Brown head FEMA and multiply them by involvement with every aspect and issue in American life, policy, and decision then again multiplied by all the years Roberts can be expected to live.

Signed,
Outraged at Political Cronies destroying America

19. This is great!
I emailed my opinions on Brown and "should the national guard be brought home from Iraq?". I wasn't able to access the one on Roberts though--I'll try it a little later. It was very easy to send my message to my senators and congresswoman. I'm going to bookmark that page for future reference. Thanks!

5. Well, Bush* told 'Brownie' he was doing a great Job.
Guess he can't fire him, that would be admitting a mistake, and we all know this president makes no mistakes.

6. Another Poster Child
I like having Brownie around...in fact, let's keep him around for another year. Yep, let him clusterfuck some more disasters, too.

Let Americans see how they're being represented by a Repugnican majority! Let them see how "compassionate conservativism (:puke:) is really "all mine, all mine, all mine, fuck you!"

And while we're at it, let's encourage Commander Bunnypants to give him a promotion or a medal. Same for Chertoff and all the rest of those jerkoffs. Yep...keep 'em in the eyes and ears of the many who will still be suffering a year from now due to their crony kleptocracy.

8. Bush never hires someone unless they've done him some favor

My (totally baseless) suspicion: he fires Brown, whatever Brown did for Bush will come back and bite Bush in the butt.

I'm curious how Brown came to Bush's attention in the first place. Was it through Brown's association with the Oklahoma Republican Party? Because I doubt it was through the Arabian Horse Society.

on edit: I found this at Josh Marshall's site:

"Brown's ticket to FEMA was Joe Allbaugh, President Bush's 2000 campaign manager and an old friend of Brown's in Oklahoma. When Bush ran for president in 2000, Brown was ending a rocky tenure at the horse association.

Brown told several association officials that if Bush were elected, he'd be in line for a good job. When Allbaugh, who managed Bush's campaign, took over FEMA in 2001, he took Brown with him as general counsel."

Ah-ha. My guess: there's even more to this. Probably helped out during the Selection 2000.

10. But of course- he may be needed to enable another tragedy
Chertoff really revealed himself when he said that Brownie may be needed for other disasters. God forbid, that he is around anymore. He needs to be put to pasture with his Arabian horses.

He must have felt some heat though, he grumbled something about needing a Mexican meal and a stiff Margarita. Arriba, arriba andelay(sp) Heck of a job there brownie! -dubby

They are trying to pull a fast one and MSM is helping.

14. Yeah, they just publicly said some stuff to shut people up. Meanwhile,
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 09:22 AM by Jamastiene
they just quietly sent him back to his desk to do what he is actually qualified to do, play wastepaper basketball.

Of course, they didn't actually fire him. They just took him out of the position of FEMA manager in the areas affected by the hurricane to quieten people down about his EXTREME lack of credentials to hold such a job in the first place. They are in full "Damage Control" mode.

16. "My removal from NO was the result of media manipulation"
or words to that effect were uttered by Brown today, according to NPR. Who does Brown think he's kidding? I can't believe that even the Kool Aid drinkers would swallow that one.
