Where on earth are the calls for Bush's resignation????

I am absolutely aghast at the incompetence surrounding the Bush administration's response to Katrian. Where are the united calls across the blogasphere for the Bush administration's immediate resignation? All I have seen are weak requests for the dismissal of FEMA heads!

I don't understand this - at all.

This is the letter I wrote through Moveon to papers across the country calling for Bush's resignation or immediate action for resolution of inquiry. We need to DEMAND resignation. We need to mount signs in front of our houses - BUSH RESIGN NOW:

Words can not express my fury & disgust at the federal government's response to the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. This administration has endangered the security of country by appointing inexperienced and incompetent persons in key positions at FEMA. Cronyism seems to be the sole criteria for appointments. In fact, competence seems to be a liability for gaining employment under this administration since adept persons would make judgments upon objective observation and factual information. The Bush administration is loathe to operate under the constraints of reality.

Beyond this, President Bush displayed complete incompetence in leading the nation through this crisis. And, it is clear that he is just as much a failure as a leader as the FEMA heads that he appointed. Four years after September 11th, it is clear his administration has made us less safe. It is ironic that this is the man who ran for re-election on the strength of his ability to protect America and his strong leadership ability. This crisis has laid bare the truth about the naked emperor who stands before us.

I am asking every citizen to demand an independent investigation into the administrative failures of managing this crisis and enact calls for resignation or resolution of inquiry for impeachment against this administration. Please call and write to your senate & congressional reps, immediately. Insist that they advocate for a independent and transparent investigation into the government's complete failure to provide relief and protection to Hurricane Katrina's victims. The investigation must be independent from the politicians and have its own investigators, budget, and subpoena power. A investigation by the people who are responsible for the failures surrounding Katrina will be nothing more then a placating exercise to quell the public's outrage. We can not let this happen. We must demand transparency and true accountability.

Please take action today. America can no longer abide by incompetent leadership that literally has resulted in the deaths of our fellow citizens.

5. President Cheney == vampire in the sun
Without popular old Mr. Cult-Of-Personality to hide behind, Darth Cheney's ability to get anything done will be severely limited.

11. watergate was impaneled when
they realized Nixon was probably going to have to go so they got Agnew out quick on tax evasion....and then picked Ford.....Alexander Haige complained that Fords swearing in was" like a coronation".....they have to get their ducks in a row and I feel sure that they are working with "Fitzgerald" in mind...I pray."all good things come to those who wait"

12. a constitutional amendment was passed then
After it was apparent Nixon was in trouble, a constitutional amendment to allow the appointment of a Vice President was passed. Then Agnew was gotten rid of (replaced by Ford), then Nixon.

I was surprised at how fast that amendment went through.

accept this kind of administration. I am disgusted also. When compared to the witch hunt the Republicans staged on Clinton our country looks like we are under Fascist control.

I am tired of signing petitions to get this Evil Buffoon out of office. It seems like all the screaming does NOTHING. What is the problem?

I learned on here that it only takes ONE Congressman to start impeachment proceedings. If that is true what are are Congressmen doing? THEY should be fired for incompetence by allowing this administration one horrific failure after another. Someone here also said we have to wait until there are more Democrats in the Senate to start impeachment. Bull! File the papers and start the process if nothing but to show Americans that we are not going to put up with this anymore.

The Catholic leaders were condemned and held responsible for not protecting the youngest of their flock by allowing wolves to continue to assault them. The Democratic leaders and the Republican leaders are just as guilty.

Is it not a crime to witness and/or encourage a crime? A group of men were convicted of a crime because they watched and did not stop the rape of a woman. It was made into a movie and starred Jodie Foster. The legal brains in here should know the statute.

3. Mr. President, resign!
I just wrote a letter along the same lines this morning. I'm sending one copy to the white house, and other copies to various news media.

Dear President Bush:

You promised to protect this country. You said that you would keep us safe. But when the worst disaster in the history of the nation hit the Gulf Coast last week, where were you? Flitting about between vacation homes and photo ops, eating birthday cake in Arizona and playing guitar in San Diego. And all the while, thousands of people were drowning, children and old ladies were pleading for help on live TV, and we’ll never know how many died of hunger and thirst while waiting for help that never came. The various disaster response agencies and the scores of volunteer groups tripped all over each other for the lack of leadership. The gaping void of leadership that you left at the top, where you should have been, crippled this great nation’s response and turned it into a national disgrace. To top it all off, the FEMA response was amateurish at best because its head and most of its top executives were political hacks you hired for their loyalty rather than for any kind of skill or experience.

I have never in my life seen anything more heartbreaking or more shameful than the flood in New Orleans and your administration’s pitiful attempts to respond.

There is only one honorable thing left for you to do now. Resign from office. You must step down now so that the rest of the country can move beyond the divisiveness you have caused and begin the healing process.

Mr. President, resign!

19. Apply his favorite brand of punishment...the death penalty! He is a mass
murderer by negligent homicide. Wouldn't that be wonderful justice? A taste of his own ANTI-LIFE for this hypocritical, lying, murderous PRO_LIFER...

But the stupid bastards won't listen to us!

No, seriously, many of us would like to ... well, I can't even say, because I don't want the Secret Service visit (isn't that awful? -- living in a country where you're afraid to speak your mind?) like poor Bailey....

9. He will not resign..
He doesn't work for you. He works for the super rich, multi-national gazillionairs.. and for THEM he is doing a wonderful job. He is dismantling the parts of the Federal Government that were created to protect you from white collar predators. He is pouring money from our pockets into the pockets of big oil and munitions makers.

There is only one way for us to get him out. Take the House and start proceedings.

10. Remember - a minivan is a billboard and a car has more ad space than a...
bench ad...

Big magnetic posters can be stuck on car doors/van sides/hatchback backs...just don't obscure license plate, blinker/brake lights or break any state laws.

Slap them on when driving around - if you're shy, save them for road trips - and take them off when you park if you're afraid of retaliation.

I think we need to think carefully about the message, though. It's not the point to piss people off and polarize them - "Look what you did, you idiots - do you get it now?"...we need to unify - get people to understand that we are ALL of the victims of the Bush administration...were all victims before Katrina. Katrina is the death rattle of a lingering, terminal disease.

14. We need to demand that Bush and Cheney resign or be
impeached. I prefer impeachment because the investigation should be very revealing, bringing down everyone in the Republican Party who have been complicit in propping this criminal administration.

15. you can ask but this time you won't receive
He knows the country is pissed at him, but in all essence does he really care? and should he even? The republicans have never been so in control, they control the senate, the courts, and bush never has to face the voters again, so he can do whatever he wants EVEN if it makes him look bad.

17. That's why when they crash it will be a huge thud heard around
the world because they will bring each other down as they fall. They are so tied up with each other it can't happen any other way. I feel there is work going on behind the scenes to bring about just such a thud. It has to be in secret at first, which is why we aren't hearing anything right now.
