So the media has won its battle to stay in New Orleans...

Have we seen any benefits so far? Will this lead to an accurate body count? Any updates on this appreciated.

1. This whole body count meme
plays right into repug hands. That way there can forever be doubt and people will blame the local officials who are in charge.

Please folks, the death mongering is not pretty. What's that matter, not enough dead people? Isn't this good news. Apparently the Mayor must have done a good job getting most of the people who wanted to get out, out. This is good news. Get it?

4. Yes it is good news
That is one of the reasons why I do believe that there will be an accurate body count. Too many eyes are watching.

As long as they're don't roadcast pics that you can ID people from all over the M$M, then the press and the Red Cross should both be there.

BTW: Mayor Nagin should be getting honors for the work he's done not barbs. But BushCo decided to swift boat him because he called Bush out during the storm.

3. Having the media there is good for more than an accurate body count
The media can cover the way the military is going door to door simply busting doors down as they would if they were raiding a drug house.

Then they just leave the door wide open. Open for looting or finding depending on who is doing the deed.

And who is to say the looters aren't some of the police and military who are occupying ah, I mean "Protecting" the city

I hope the media covers this as well as they covered the failure so far.

5. The LA National Guard
who are in charge seem to be doing a good job.

It would have been another matter entirely if BushCo got away with Federalizing Louisiana. Thank god that didn't happen is all I can say.

7. There was a piece on that yesterday on CNN. They may have it on their
web. Some of them do not know where their families are.

9. Report 2 days ago on TV News about small LA town
commandeered warehouse for body processing. Mayor said he didn't have much choice. Resident (white) said she would much rather have the dead ones than the live ones come and loot and kill. She tried to recover in a later statement talking about the victims but it was already said.

Said they "can only do 150 a day." They xray them, measure them, photograph them and take DNA. I don't recall that they said they autopsy them or try to determina a casue of death. Just getting started that day.
