Sen. Republicans & Lieberman,

Have you noticed President Bush’s approval ratings lately?

You should.

Americans are figuring out that he doesn’t care about the safety or economic welfare of the vast majority of us, and it won’t take long for the public to figure out that you have abdicated your oversight duties to rubber stamp the corporate lobbyist drafted legislation Karl Rove sends to you (Joe, I only assume that as a Democrat, you are on his distribution list because you are such a faithful dog of the far right).

This will present you with one of two choices:

1. Stick to lockstep obedience to the White House and enjoy your voter-enforced retirement in 2006 or 2008 at the latest, and watch the GOP go the way of the Whigs.

2. Start doing your constitutionally mandated duty of oversight, possibly saving your job and keeping the GOP politically viable after the collapse of the Bush/Cheney/Rove/Norquist push for a one party state.


As a member of the homeland security committee, a good step toward keeping your job would be demanding the immediate firing of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who was clearly callous about the potential loss of life in New Orleans and the firing that failed horse pimp Michael Brown who is running FEMA, and that they be replaced with apolitical professionals with relevant emergency services experience.

Some jobs are too important to hand out as rewards to political donors—like the ones that decide who lives and who dies both here and abroad.

After that you better figure out how to fix the damage you did with the creation of the Department of Homeland Security before more American lives are lost due to its incompetence and corruption.

You guys need to get off your dead ass and make up for your years of complicity in the face of the Bush administration’s blatant crimes and incompetence or the GOP will go the way of the Whigs.

Please make Congress represent us, the people who vote for you, and not just corporate America.
