the brand new, "9-11 spirit"

i sense a new, 'nationaL unity' in the spirit of the unity that enveLoped the country after the attacks of 9/11/01.

onLy this time, the unity appears to be the country united in heLping each other... and teLLing the government to fuck off, and get out of our way whiLe we Lift each other up.

i sensed it in the response to hurricane katrina, where the onLy groups/individuaLs abLe to rescue and aid the survivors were not government affiLiated, and mostLy didn't have the authority to do what they did (to save Lives). yet, they said, "fuck you! we're saving our countrymen"

i sensed it at during the haLf-time show of the NFL opener on thursday night, when the nationaL guard paraded onto the fieLd under the pomp of the american fLag and patriotic songs... the crowd cheered 'our boys and girLs' Like they did the home team, as the guard's spokesman rambLed on and pLeaded for recruits. then, the phrase, "the president" was uttered, and the stadium erupted in a Long, and boisterous boo.

this is a unity i can appreciate, and pray Lasts a Long time. a unity to heLp our feLLow man, and not (bourgeois?) government.

everyone i asked, either didn't watch the haLftime show, or said they didn't show it on their affiLiate. no idea.

aside from myseLf, mrs. sniffa, and my mother.. my sister was aLso at the game, but in a section on the opposite side of the stadium from us. i couLd ask her if the boos were as Loud where she was.

3. I sense the unity as well

but I can't emcompass the ENTIRE government in the "get out of my way" shove. The US Coast Guard can get in my way any time they want. I am impressed with their energy and courage.

I hope we keep this unity going. It is going to be a long, long haul and it won't stay in the news forever.

i think the people are finally seeing who's really NOT on their side, and allying themselves accordingly. it might take some time to grow, but i'm more optimistic than i've been in a while, yep. :)
