Proposal for DU Group: Nonviolent Civil Disobedience
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 05:09 PM by GeorgeBushytail
Mission statement:

The mission of the DU Nonviolent Civil Disobedience Group is to drive Bush from office as quickly as possible through fearless and creative action. We will use the power of the Internet to instigate direct, nonviolent action in the streets.

Members of the forum will:
1. Plan, publicize, and carry out creative acts of Civil Disobedience.
2. Make ties with other activist groups outside DU and work with them.
3. Alert DU to calls for Civil Disobedience from other groups.
4. Do more than circulate petitions, write email and posts, and march along legal protest march routes.
5. Share the experience of grizzled old activists with angry young whelps.

I've had enough, people. We can't react to Bush's crimes like we're FEMA - lumbering, timid, and ineffective.

4. All we have to do is BOYCOTT
The Bush Cult thrives on money. Take away their money, you take away their power. I suggest organizing a world-wide boycott on certain companies like Wal-Mart, MBNA, Bank of America, etc. These heartless bastards cannot force us to patronage their business when we don't want to.

5. Boycotts are great if you have years and years. Boycotts are safe and easy
I have a daughter. Bush endangers her. I want quick effective blatant action.

DU may be the wrong website for Civil Disobedience.

6. I'm with you on the Civil Disobedience
but what exactly do you suggest doing?
Nonviolence like sit-ins, hunger strike, etc?

7. I spent the past 4 days setting up and publicizing Bushville, DC 9/11
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 05:58 PM by GeorgeBushytail
www.bushville.org got 10,000 unique visits in its 1st 3 days.

Stuff like that.

I don't plan to be the boss of DUNCD so I can't say. I look forward to being surprised by what comes out of the group.

And to your list of options - yes.

9. I'm in - I have a star
I feel the same way. I am participating in the DC march, along with some other events that will qualify as nonviolent civil disobedience. We need to start breaking the mold, breaking the rules, stepping it up a level or three.

Let's roll!
