Blanco defends herself as well as the chimp!!! |
|
6:39 P.M. - HOUSTON (AP): Louisiana had a "well thought-out exit plan," in the days leading up to Hurricane Katrina and many more lives would have been lost without it, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco said Sunday.
"There was not a single individual taking a slow step in our state," Blanco said at the Reliant Center, where more than 2,000 evacuees are still living after fleeing the devastation in New Orleans.
"I personally, and everybody I knew, begged people to leave before the storm came in. We had a very systematic, well thought-out exit plan. Hundreds of thousands left," she said. "We simply didn't have the infrastructure."
(snip)
"He committed help to me," she said. "Help in those critical moments was slow in coming, not through any fault of the president."
In a tense 14-minute answer to a question asking her to elaborate on her comments about Louisiana's storm plans, Blanco insisted state officials had an evacuation and rescue effort that prevented thousands more deaths.
"Were there lessons learned? You bet," she said. "We did a massive evacuation and if we hadn't we would have had thousands of deaths. Right now the numbers are minimal when you consider the amount of damage." (end)
I knew there was something I didn't like about Blanco when, on the Tuesday after the hurricane, the only solution she could offer was a day of prayer on Wednesday. She is a typical "corporate whore democrat" who eats at the same trough as Bush.

...I have to agree I was pretty pissed when she declared a day of prayer while people were starving out there I just hope she spent that day making calls to the FEMA,DHS and white house because those people needed help not prayers. Tennessee Gal's reaction to Nagin being in proximity Bush

Some people keep saying to be patient because she must have some reasons for acting like she has been. I just do not see it. She is missing an opportunity to fight back for her people. I guess she does not care or she has something to hide or she is afraid of him. Now innocent people have died so that all of shrubs friends can make money rebuilding the city. And now that all of the people are disbursed all over the country, New Orleans can be rebuilt for white people. Problem solved.

or any other state to try to be oppositional to the President while trying to respond to an ongoing crisis. That is the job of our elected leaders in Congress.
Why should she have to do their job for them, she's still dealing with the aftermath of a major disaster and she's trying to do her best not to piss of W or give the Repugs any reason to attack her? As soon as she disses the President, they will Swift Boat her so fast you won't be able to say Dan Rather. That's what they did to Nagin last week and they will do the same to her.

6. Oh what a tangled web we weave....... |

Her good buddy/campaign financier/head of the Louisiana Democratic Party/the man who used to be a life-long Republican up to a year ago Jim Bernhart (CEO of The Shaw Group, who has the ex-FEMA director Joe Albaugh as one of its lobbyist/consultants)just landed several multi-million dollar contracts with FEMA and the Army Corp of Engineers to help "rebuild" New Orleans. Imagine that.
